Do we have any Benelli TRK 502 X owners in the house?
Picked one up today for my lady. We know what they are all about and where they are from etc etc and there will be haters ( don’t give a F about them ) but this is a stepping stone for her to get her confidence back. It was a good price for here in Finland, only 3000km on the clock and can’t really go too far wrong for the money. I personally think it looks great and is a very easy bike to ride. Perfect for her after her little accident to get her back in the saddle. She loves it.

Would be nice to hear any thoughts if anyone has experience.

If she loves it, that's all that matter. If a load on here stated that it was an overweight, underpowered heap of crap...you've already got it and she likes it so. it shouldn't make much difference. Hope she continues to enjoy it and regain her confidence.

It is always the weight of the Benellis that surprises me. Very much a 'middleweight' bike but over 230kg fuelled up is not middleweight.
I met a chap on one (actually the 702 if memory serves me correct) at the ferry port on the Isle of Man. He was saying how he'd had a 1200gs prior to it and just wanted to get a much lighter bike as he was getting on a bit. What he had got was a slightly smaller bike with nearly half the CC but just about the same weight. He hadn't actually checked the weight of his new bike, just that a 700cc bike should be way lighter than a 1200cc bike..right?

It is always the weight of the Benellis that surprises me.

That surprised me too as it is a well regarded bike and Benelli sells shit loads in Italy.

A friend who loves everything Italian bought a new one from my local bike shop when I lived in Cheltenham after I recommended them. They took up Benelli when Yamaha dumped them in favour of the now bankrupt Completely Motorcycles. My local dealer, Spa, is still trundling along selling the odd Benelli and loads of scooters and mopeds from a variety of Asian brands. Spa's workshop is also busy servicing and MOTing bikes plus they are specialists in 2 stroke Yamaha RD series so get restoration work.

I met the mate at Spa when he collected it. Bike looked good. I sat on it and it was a bit of a shock picking it up off the side stand. It was also a bit tall for my liking so the centre of gravity would have worked against this short arse. Nick at Spa gave me a brown envelope for making the recommendation, which was nice. Bought me a nice bottle of white Burgundy. I had considered the Benelli as a bike when it came to change but that one experience put me off.

Sadly, the mate went down a covid conspiracy spiral shortly after and blocked me and several others from the motorcycle group we met through. We suggested he took his views elsewhere and he did with a massive flounce. Hence, we never found out how he got on with the bike and if he kept it long.

I ran one for two years from July '21 to June '23, facelift version with the black engine. Very low mileage, one owner bike that I bought privately for a good price. Really good engine for a 500 twin, bags of character, 360 degree crank so it sounds like a boxer twin! Ride quality & comfort was excellent. I had no problems during the time I had it. Yes they are heavy, but it's a physically big bike and it comes as standard with a centre stand, luggage rack, crash bars, hand guards, etc. i'd consider another if the price was right.

My neighbour owns one that he bought new last year after he passed his test , he has used it every weekend with no issues and it looks to be well screwed together .

Thanks guys, some nice comments. At the moment she can't stay off it. I love that.

It really is a bit of a head turner for me when I step out the house. As I said it was a no brainer.

I also went shopping today and took the plunge and said bye bye 30th Anniversary GSA. Now on a 2014 LC GSA which is my fourth GSA and first LC. Lets see how it goes. I like it and its completely different to the hexhead. More than I expected. So far so good.

@Chris600v Did you put any kind of Navi on the bike? For now was gonna just go down the quadlock road but I have a couple of BMW Navs and cradles kicking about that may do the trick.

Hi Macca,
I used an old Zumo 550 fitted above the instruments on the windscreen mounting bar.
I bought a cheap 3D printed clamp from ebay to mount the Garmin cradle onto the bar.

How did you power up? I was searching for something like the BMW has hanging around lol but to no avail.

I also tried the connection to the USB port to see if it would fit the connections on BMW Cradle but they are different. Will figure it out at some point I guess.

There is always the easy Quadlock andf phone option.

Hi Macca, powering the sat nav was easy, as the bike is already provided with two pre-wired connectors behind the side panels, controlled by buttons integrated into the handlebar switches. I used one for the nav & the other for the driving lights. Check out Benelli Tom on youtube , he has a video explaining how it works. Good luck!
