Bennetts tripled my premium - anyone else?

Yep, our home insurance just went up 20%.
Our renewal quote came through yesterday.
2 years ago it was £190.
Last year it was £390.
This year's quote (the cheapest I can find) is £530.

I'm finding it really hard not to get very cross.

Try Motorcycle Direct. The only company I've dealt with in years where year on year premiums have actually come down. RS fully comp insured and another bike added for no extra fee, £186 annually.

Tried to add my new bike (1290 SAS) to my current Bennetts multibike policy. 2 bikes - KTM990 SMT and KTM 950 Super Enduro R, combined value about £11k maybe. Pilycy was about £260 with a £250 excess. To add the new bike, the excess went up to £1500 on all the bikes, and the policy would have been over £1100.

Did an online comparison as a standalone and got it for £550 through Lexman with a £750 excess.

I think they will be trying to recoup their payout for the Luton airport fire next year so be expecting a right rogering .

I wouldn't touch Bennett even if they were they cheapest on the comparison site list, their customer service is hopeless. My 350 ADV is due for renewal on Nov 1st it was £90 for last year. with Bikesure. I noticed they had the auto renewal ticked against me, which I cancelled last month . when I went through the meerkat site they came out third most expensive. The cheapest was at £85 Full Comp for the year, so when Bikesure rung me to renew the policy they then matched ( in fact beat ) the £85.00 quote. I was happy with that.

Pet insurances , our current insurers are currently quoting a 300% rise in premium over last years with no claims and the excess has gone from the first £100 to the fiirst £300.

They have been told to F.R.O

For interest, when I was changing to the GS (because insurance) I got some quotes around October, then paid the admin fee to change bikes on the current policy. Quotes now (February) are £250 up on the ones in October, an eye-watering 50% increase.

stop whining , i'm a self employed mechanic , my trade policy is , £2500 a year .
Next time someone moans about your price, point out that £1 per hour is just for insurance.

Bike insurance has gone down by £6. My wife’s car was going up by over £100. Cheeky buggers. I eventually got it down below last year at £206 fully comp. Insurance prices do seem all over this time round. When I changed my pickup last December the company I had my Navara insured with wouldn’t insure my Ranger!! I took another insurance company but it was a bit more expensive.

I am with Bennetts and was pleasantly surprised with final quote of £67 fully comp for my 2018 GSA. I am 65.
That said the auto renewal that came in was around £100 which seemed ok. But as we are encouraged to always shop around and lo and behold their lower price came up in the insurance search engine.
Then efficient phone call and deed done.

Love to know what conditions that has on it, remarkably low. I know mine is newer, and I know foolishly not having a garage added the best part of £400, but even without it was >5* that.

I just reinsured my VW campervan with Howden (A-Plan) thankfully for a little less than last years premium (for me and the missus fully comp). I only do 2000 miles a year in it.

I tried to add my 25 year old son as a casual driver with his 5 years NCD but they wanted another £520, stating he is a "Young Driver". Apparently the "young" category with the underwriters KGM is now anyone under 30 under their terms and conditions.

Another insurer I tried (Brentacre) wouldn't even quote for him to be added.

My bike policy is due renewal soon with Carole Nash and I'm dreading it, what with the recent rises in pet, caravan, house, home contents etc.

My renewal was slightly cheaper this year. But when I replaced the GSA for an Indian FTR it came down from @£350 to £195. Happy with that😉

1200 gs old bugger 9+ years NCD £350 3.0 Subaru same details £150. go figure -Mrs has a 1.6 Citroen same criteria £350

I was in Halliwell Jones yesterday looking at the new GSA (that is under a cover at the back of the Showroom)

I overheard one of the salesmen talking to a customer saying they wont complete the paperwork on a new bike sale until the buyer gets the insurance quote because they have had to reverse a number of sales this year because punters not being able to get insurance on new bikes.

When I renewed my policy last time the guy said that 2 or 3 companies had pulled out of the bike insurance market. If I recall Marker Study and Axa had stopped covering bikes. These were companies they used a lot as they were competitive. That coupled with the general rise in insurance means a lot of us are gonna get stuffed.
