Bent spokes

I have just bought a 2001 1150GS and whilst cleaning it i noticed that there are 2 spokes that are slightly bent. It looks as though the damage was done from the side as the rim has no dents.
Is it dangerous to ride in this condition, does anyone know if it is an expensive repair?

If your that worried buy two spokes and nipples from your bmw dealer and replace them.

Yes, however. Check the torgues you need to do them to (they are very low). Don't replace more than the damaged ones and don't fiddle with the ones that are not bent! Its very easy to get the wheel out of true if you start messing around with it replacing/tightening the spokes that are fine.

Place a screwdriver against the spokes. Spin the wheel and listen to the " ring a dinging" of the spokes against the screwdriver.

When you put the new spokes in place they'll have a different "ring a ding". Adjust the new spokes so they make the same "ring a ding".

The only problem you may have is removing the old nipples from the rim -

Bent ones are never at the top ( tensile stress) but always at the bottom ( in compression.)

Check the rims ....

A few years ago I took all the spokes off of the rear wheel (feck knows why; I guess I was bored). When I put them back on I guessed that if they all sounded the same then they must be all ok. The wheel hasn't disintegrated yet.

That's weird - i've noticed that you only ever get a flat tyre on the bottom too

I don't think so - I had a puncture in New Zealand (which is kind of next door) and it was still only flat on the bottom.
