I have decided to give Bertha a new face. The headlamps had been modified to a twin headlamp setup but although it workrd fine, I thought it was a bit of a lash up and exposed the bottom of the control panel to the elements.
Sooooo, I was persuaded to release the moths from the purse and bought a rather nice screen, with twin headlamps that looked as if it would suit, it was even in gloss black so no painting worries then. :augie. It arrived before Christmas and I thought I would nip out, fit it and go for a trundle.:blast
I know I have been out of the game for a while with the flu but apart from loose fitting ,it has been a bit of a nightmare.
Firstly the original wiring is far too long and being old is reluctant to bend.
The wiring supplied is also too long so gets in the way.
The fairing sits closer to the bars so little room to place all this wire
Those are easily sorted but then I find that not only will the original dash panel not fit but also the speedo cable hits the left hand headlight connector.
being directly above it.
Im sure all can be altered in fact with the cost of the thing, it has to be fitted.
Still here are some pics, first of what she looked like before and a few with the new screen lightly fastened on for the pic.
It is strong enough to be able to mount a seperate windscreen to add height.

Just wondered if you had come across the same problem as me and how you thought you might get round it.. Im now thinking that the easiest will be to do away with the oem speedo and rev counter and repace it with a digital combined unit. Anyone used/fitted one of these. I dont need the likes of an IMO but there are a number of other cheaper ones that look OK.

It does all I ask of it.
It was on the bike when I bought it as the OEM speedo doesn't work, but it didn't work either as the sensor was knackered. I removed it and used my Garmin Quest for a speedo, but I've recently got a new sensor cable and put it back on and it works fine.
If I were to buy another I'd get one with a rev counter as well like the Trailtech Vapor or even the Veypor (but the display doesn't look so clear on the Veypor).
