Best Aux lights to fit on the 1200

Hi Thunder,
I`ve been looking at your light setup & was wondering how it`s been holding up since you fitted them. I`m considering doing the same but with 2 pairs of 002`s. After running them for a while would you change anything or wished you`d changed the setup at all or done anything differently? Any tips for as & when I fit mine?

Cheers :beerjug:

P.S. empty your PM box :thumb

Box emptied, thanks for the reminder :D

Have had zero issues with the lights since fitting them, the quality is excellent and no problems taking the feed for the relays direct from the main and high beam.

Only change I have made is to add an aftermarket waterproff switch for the main lights, I've never been stopped by the law with them turned on all the time but wanted the ability to switch them off just in case.

Go for it these are great lights. :thumb

There, I`ve just ordered the PIAA 002 lights & bar so looking forward to some decent light :thumb
I may well be asking stupid questions regarding fitting so please bear with me :D

Migsel bars

Thunder,

I'm sorry if I'm being stupid, but I can't find where to buy Migsel light bars from. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Dave. :)

Anyone here fitted these ?

I saw a grey 12GS with a set on and thought they looked the business, but how good are they actually ?

Hella FF50's plus Hell Micro DE fogs plus Migsel bar plus PIAA Powersport bulbs in dip and main beams... (thinking about PIAA bulbs in the Hella's to complete the job).

Except the bulbs that was theset-up I had on my 1150 and they worked a treat so I would say they would do the same on a 1200.

I've had a set of these on my GS for over a year now. I don't think they are the best as 'driving lights' as they really are fog lamps. However, they seem pretty good for filtering to wake up car drivers.

That said, I am going to play about with the adjustment to see if I can improve the pool of light.

They're also quite expensive. But they are a neat fit and not as ugly as some other set ups.

I have these lights wired into the battery but set with the dipped beam so they don't run unless the ignition is on. However, they do seem to drain the battery fast, so remember to switch them off or switch off the ignition if the engine isn't running ! :o

Are they not just Hella Micro DE fog lamps with a bit of bent alloy over the top, Kai....? :nenau

Hella Micro DE Premium Edition HID:

or

Anyone any idea where I can get these:)

Hella micro DE Xenons are available from eBay from a German company
for about 350pounds (don't know about premium edition). That includes a very well made wiring loom with relays fuses and battery connections. These are driving lights not fog lights. They may be hard to use for running lights as there is no sharp cut-off on the top of the beam. Hella do not make a HID micro DE foglight.

cheap and bright.

i did the following to my gs12adv.
halford rind spots, ovel blue and micro spots total £26
1 hid £40
1x 100watt rally bulb £11
result- lights that throw 200yards of daylight which when you ride down very shitty b roads like i do is most reasuring.

yeh the hella and piaa stuff looks great but hey at 5 times the cost,:thumb

Not wishing to sound like I am having a pop at you, but lets get this right.....you spend, how much on your new 1200GSA?

Then penny pinch but adding four sets of Halfrauds finest lights, that come to £26 in total. :nenau

Now I am no gambling man, but I am prepared to bet that they will fail due to water ingress before the year is out!

Then you go on to say that "the Hella and PIAA stuff look great but hey at 5 times the cost"....errrr, like the BMW isnt grossly over priced.

Plus, I would suggest that you remove that 100w bulb, unless you add a additional earth cable to it. :thumb

I spent way too much on my PIAA HID lights. But they are great, they turn night into day. If I would of bought something else, I would of regretted it later, and bought the PIAA anyways in the end.

I see them as an Investment in my Safety, not to mention that they look great.

You get what you pay for.

Just as BTBR said, after buying a New GS, I am going to cheap out on the lights? No Way.

Best lights

Sorry to ask what I am sure is a stupid questions - are the PIAA much better than the Touratech lights?:nenau

You would need to be a bit more specific ... what touratech lights (hella) vs what PIAA lights ?
