Now that i'm getting on a bit:augie

I'm starting to get a pain between the shoulder blades, when I ride the GSA..... so much so that I have to shift my body position to alleviate it:blast

If I sit further back & more upright, it goes...................but I can't reach the bars:blast

Therefore after 15 years of riding Oilhead GS's, I finally need some bar risers

I think 'Up and Back' would do the trick, but which ones?

Verholen?

Rox Risers?

Others?

I want ones that you don't need to alter the brake/control cables with and slip straight on

John, I had the same problem. Went to the physio and she diagnosed a muscle issue in under my shoulder blade. She got me to sit up on the bike & looked at my posture etc etc. Gave me exercises to do and a big piece of rubber band for stretching exercise. Problem solved. It might be worth a visit first before you get risers. :rob

Good tip, fitness and physio could help because it's intermittent:thumb

I've been thinking about trying the Rox Risers on my airhead, perhaps they would work well on the R11xxGS? They rise the bars 'up and back' and look simple to fit, available in different rises for fatbar conversions or just 7/8" bars.. HTH

The sceptics over at ADVrider seem to rate them :thumb

I use the risers sold by Jaws on here (1" up, 3/4" back from memory) - made a big difference for me (completely eliminated the sharp pain at the base of my neck between my shoulders which I used to get after a couple of hours riding).

No cable / hose mods required.

Bar risers are pretty much just bar risers......as long as they are made properly (which all the named brands and enthusiast built ones seem to be) and you dont go too extreme so that you have to change cables/pipes, there may only be a gramme or three difference in them and a few quid in it.

Go for the company rather than the (miniscule) differences in looks......That nice Mr Chad will no doubt sort you out a nice set that will do the job well and you know exactly where you stand with him :thumb

EDIT:
PS, when you get them, fit them in what seems to be the sensible way, which you have already said is 'up and back', but also try them forwards and back as well......with the few degrees of rotation you can get with rotating the bars in the clamps, you can get to all sorts of different positions...you may be pleasantly surprised :)

I've got one the mverholen sets... did not need to alter the brake lines... only just. However I think they are pricey for what they are unless you can get a used pair like I did.
