A buddy of mine has just left his bike at mine while he is away for Christmas and he left me the keys.

A brand new KTM 1190 with all the bits and a tank of petrol.

So I had a go today and my observations are, Red ligt flashes all the time, when you give it some!

And when you turn the traction control off it wheelies amazing!

All in all a marvellous bike,

...and did he give permission for you to joy ride it , or was it a solitary decision of yours, based upon temptation?

Well mutual benefits he rode my bike so I get to ride his! and the first time he road mine he fell off! he was stationary so no damage. The thing is it does not matter how much you know not to do silly things if you can you do. So I tried to not turn the tc off but I am weak! So I have left it alone this week as hero to zero is very quick.

However its been out side for a week under a car port and the exhaust is showing signs of rust and some fittings are showing signs of dulling already.

Well, what you waiting for. You've been out on the salty roads enjoying your mate's bike and it's furring up !! Jesus man, give it a proper Sunday wash & acf50. After all, he is your buddy ? :D

 So your mate asked you to look after his bike while he's away, and not only have you ragged the tits off it, but you've also left it outside to go rusty?:blast He's gonna be pissed when he gets back!:D

Well calm down ladies some others also no about life and bikes!

there is no salt on the roads here and there is no acf ect. So it was washed and the exhaust still started to go rusty.

We are mates so of course I sent him a message about riding his bike. it is a bike not his wife? I told him when he left the bike to leave the keys so I could have a go. I also asure you I am no riding god and a few wheelies are not ragging a 150 bhp bike. Which except in a straight line few riders could do I suggest, rag that is.

Enjoy it while you can. I've always liked to ride my mates bikes, and why not ? It's nice to try something you might never have the opportunity otherwise. But then, my mates like giving me their bikes because they always get them back cleaner than when they arrived. Maybe they're taking advantage of my OCD !!!!!

Just passed 2000 miles I noticed my disks rust very quickly , even though I dry them after a clean need to buy it an hair dryer I think

And he had secure parking while he was away and I fitted a scottoiler to it. And yes the rear disc is rusting as well

The car port is covered on 3 sides and 4 other bikes are parked there and none of them are rusting. This is the rear disc and the end of the exhaust.

A quick wipe down with an oil soaked rag will sort that out. I'm sure your mate would appreciate it when he picks the bike up later in the year. :aidan

Just had the exhaust end cap and bracket replaced under warranty due to corrosion, it looked like it had been submerged in the North Sea for a while (6 month old bike). The new parts are a different finish, with the part numbers having supposedly changed with the originals now superseded - read into that what you will....

A good response from the manufacturer acknowledging there is a quality control problem. :thumb2

Agreed, it was well handled by dealer and manufacturer, as it should be looking at this ( if the pic works)...
