Best crash bars for an 1150 gs?

If someones asking for advise about crash bars they could be misled by your post. H&B's don't restrict access at all to the rocker covers, and how many times do you need to remove your alterator cover:nenau

The belt can be replaced or adjusted with H&Bs in place although it's a fiddle.

I suggest that when choosing crash bars, don't compromise.

Not sure where anyone can be misled?

I cannot remove the valve covers on my partners 1150 without slackening the H&B bars right off. More importantly, it's harder to re-fit the valve cover & keep it square to the head to keep the seal around the sparkplug tunnel in place.

No point carrying a spare alternator belt if you can't access the cover to fit it. I've not had a belt snap as I replace them at 24,000 miles. I know of a dealer serviced 1200 that snapped one at 17,000 miles recently.

I was also not impressed with the quality of fit with H&B's. The aluminium spacers were the wrong length & there seemed be some misalignment from new, especially at the front?

Each to their own, just adding my 2p worth. :thumb

OK, since this is the Technical section of the forum which may be used as a point of reference in the future, we can say that some H&B crash bars allow full access to the rocker covers and very restricted access to the alternator belt whist others don't:thumb

bars

Could it be that some hb bars have done their job at some time and have got a bit out of shape?.
