Cheers,I used to ride with a Nav 6. Now I have a Chigee AIO 6
Love the Chigee
Hi, looking for help on which sat nav to buy for my 1300gsa

agreed about the phone but I have the GSA luggage on my 1300 which has a charging port inside the pannier and top box. The Chigee indeed drains the phone battery very fast so I have my phone in my top box on charge all the time so no issue. Also use the offline maps version always. When the battery is flat/phone is too hot/you have no data/google maps not working/dropped your phone/phone will not charge because it detects water in charging port (this happens..) etc etc , at that point you will wish you had a bespoke sat nav ‘unit’.
Sounds like it works.agreed about the phone but I have the GSA luggage on my 1300 which has a charging port inside the pannier and top box. exactly as we experienced on out last trip......In principle Chigee etc are great BUT - if the 'phone overheats / drains charge then all is lost.
If you have the ability to keep the 'phone cool and fully charged then should be ok
Otherwise dedicated Sat Nav
but - that opens another discussion - which one?
+1 For the TomTom 550.Think I read somewhere, the 550 is the only bike orientated satnav TomTom is now producing. Never had an issue with mine either, used all over Europe for more years than I can remember.TomTom Rider 550. Fully water and bomb proof. The 'plan.tomtom' site is excellent. Importing gpx files, or planning routes on a larger PC is simple and synch routes and places to the nav unit. Also let's you copy route maps into other apps such as PowerPoint, to print off, or email to mates.
Good screen on the bike. Quick satellite connections that haven't failed me over 9 years of use across Europe. A cheap aftermarket mount screws into the back of the nav unit and it slots easily onto the BMW nav mount above the bike's screen and locks on and powers up with the bike. Lifetime updates. Simple, no fussiness and pipes instructions to my helmet. I run it on a sat nav channel on my helmet and the second helmet channel is the link to my bike for the phone / music. Phone is paired to the bike. Set so music interrupts for nav directions. I'm no tecspert, but I find it simple.
Just planned my next 10 day trip to Austria in an afternoon. plan.tomtom has been upgraded slightly so it automatically recognises me and syncs up with my Rider 550 when I connect it via USB. Happy customer!
