Does anyone know if any of the wild camping permit areas around loch Lomond let u get the bike close to a camp spot.

Most seem to be some distance away or in a layby across the road.

Been there done that never again!
Trust me on this, the midges around the loch have been cross bred with great white sharks and rats for extra breeding power!
the only time i have been camping and seen full grown adults crying cos of midges.

Camp as far away from Loch Lomond as you can... if you can still see it, your too close!
With Loch Lomond..... beauty is in the eye of a telescope!

When i drive past now, i go faster and don't stop until the green welly!
the fear of reliving that hell scares the shit of me

Yes some do. Go on the Trossachs website and have a look. Some of them only have 4 / 5 spaces and you need a code for a gate too. You get that when you book a pitch.
No midges yet either. :thumb2

Happy days. Thanks for that I'll take a look. Am about an hour away right now. Got 8 days of Scottish travel ahead of me.

Well travelled and well kitted out for the Scottish midge

Keep an eye out for me then. I’m up at one of my favourite places in Scotland right now. Staffin Harbour on Skye. :thumb2 I’m here for a couple of nights then heading up the west coast. Dunno where yet. I still have just under 3 weeks left. I’m cheating though cos I’m in my motorhome. :D

Have you tried the Three Lochs Forest Drive? From memory you can pay for a wild camp pitch in there. I'm guessing you can get your bike close to your tent in there too.

Well, where did you get to? Where are you now? I hope wherever you are you’ve got that tent well and truly pegged down well cos it’s been blowing a gale up north all day!

Don't we know it. It's been howling since yesterday afternoon. It takes some effort to blow a fully loaded 1250gsa across the road but mother nature managed it more than once today! We spent the night just north of Applecross after 2 nights on Mull. We made it to Durnes today and found a sheltered spot on a campsite luckily. Loads of bikes here too. Hope your trip is going well.

The bonus is that you'll be midge free though :)

What he said... that's a house on wheels, not seen something as huge as that before, are you housing migrants? :D

It’s just the right size for 1. :D I’m now at Balnakeil. :thumb2 Now gonna deploy the emtb and go out to Faraid Head. I’m glad that wind has dropped a bit. Beautiful day up here today. Actually, I may just walk it instead.
One of my most favourite views in all of Scotland as you come back out of Kinlochbervie! :bow

I wouldnt camp in the Loch Lomond restricted area , Its mobbed at the weekend with groups from the cities, and any decent spots are quickly taken.
