Best Roads in Ireland

Went over ballaghbeama gap sunday in glorious weather with pancakes in that little cottage on the way back to molls gap after... Beautiful country we have here!

On the ferry tomorrow (Thursday) for two weeks :D

Will be riding most of those mentioned :thumby:

Edit .... that's two weeks in Ireland, not on the ferry!

Is your plan to do the WAW in that time?

Guys, big thanks for all info of roads and areas to explore, most of which i have not seen, being from Oooop North of this wee island. Wish i had knowledge of this a month ago as i had my Danish biker friend on tour, unfortunately only managing from Newtownards,up North to Cork taking Wild Atlantic road to Galway where he broke down. Bike not repaired for 5 days,so only got out to Doolin ,(fab road out to it).So next time, pinkies crossed i get to see more of the breath taken views and roads.

You having a go at this Keith?
I haven't decided yet Brendan. 3 or 4 of my mates are heading down to it.

Accommodation is a problem for me, I can't wild camp, I need electricity (sleep apnoea) and the lads are camping.

Good man, whats your plan, if any?

The plan is that there is no plan ;)

At Ballintoy at the moment, maybe a couple of days round here before heading west for Donegal, then south :thumb

Will just head where the sun and the breeze takes us :aidan

Get yourself up Ballaghbeama and Ballaghisheen and Healy passes if you've time. Also take in the Black Valley and the Gap of Dunloe down to Killarney if you can. Quality driving. Need any help, let me know.

Today ... Letterkenny, R254, R251 to Glenveagh National Park, continue R251 Errigal Mountains to the N56 then down to Dungloe, an absolute hoot, pick up the Wild Atlantic Way south and you're in heaven :D

Long time since I was at the gap of Dunloe, back then it was in a terrible state, broken surface and a lot of loose gravel. What is it like now? Heading off in the morning for couple days in Killarney

Very different road these days, good surface, a few loose stones here and there but that's about it unless you wandered off the roads in the Black Valley towards south Kerry. Ballaghbeama was being tarred last summer when I was up there.

Cheers, hope to take a spin up it early some morning before the horses get out, assuming they still use it?

Definite not like that today. Sitting in a cafe ready to set sail up Molls Gap, maybe try gap of Dunloe tomorrow if weather improves a bit
