Hi Guys.

Was wondering as me tyres are due for a change if could get info on the best tyres for milage.Heard that the new anakees are about best.Whats the most miles anyones had out of a front and rear set of tyres?:blagblah

7000 rear & 9000 front. Tourance.

BTW. This would be better posted in the "The Bikes" section, although stand by for some flak (this is one of those questions like what oil, and where do I put the tax disc).

Had a mate who got almost 100,000 ml out of a set of tyres. He had a 1200 and went everywhere on a low loader.:blast

I change my tyres ones every 2 years regardless the mileage .
I think the most I took out off them was 18K miles but even when I changed them was still a lot off grip left on them . On my Mercedes I have the same tires from the last 5 years and done over 40K miles :) , I only drive motorways so not much breaking etc.

I would go Tourances all the way now, tried the BW and hated them, never felt safe with them and loads more miles to boot from the Metz.

I've been really happy with Maxxis Supermax on the Diversion 900. They grip well, last longer than any other brand I have used and the price was good at £135 a pair.

The rear seems to have a harder central section that wore very smooth. The tread shoulders got that marbled effect of soft compound. As always on the Divvie, the rear tyre middle wore out first, but these had less squaring off and handled well to the end.

The front has now done 15000 and still legal though its grip has fallen away due to stepped tread blocks and rounded edges.

On the GSA, I will probably try their adventure tyres when the time is due.

Wrong question really :nenau

I personally wouldn't give a fuck about the mileage attained, I would be more interested in "What tyres for best grip" :rob

Tourance :thumb

I would agree on grip being top priority, but wera rates are also important. The Conti Road Attacks were fantastic when new but went off so fast I wasnt happy. The back went square and handling became nasty even with plenty of tread left.

However the reviews seem to like the Trail Attack and things move on: http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/902605/Tyres/Tyre-Offers/Continental

The Maxxis Supermax were the cheapest about and I was doing nearly 100% motorway miles, so made sense. But they gripped better than BT021, Conti Force and Conti Motion and lasted longer. So I got the best of both worlds.

I fancy the MAxxis Detour big trail model when the existing tyres wear out.

Everyone has there own personal choice, always stuck with Tourances myself, good grip & get about 8k from a pair :thumb

It all depends on your right hand.

About 5k out of a PR3

Tourances, No Question. Except some people think Anakees are better. But they might not be as good as TrailWings. Personally I know the Conti Trail Attacks last for absolutely forever, but not as long as the Conti Road Attacks, although these do wear out quicker.

Do a search of previous threads. Alternatively, buy My Old Worn To The Carcass Conti's - They REALLY last well. But not as well as last years old worn out 020's which have (obviously) lasted a year longer (proping up the bow of my dinghy).

I've always used Conti Trail Attacks - they were OEM on my '09 GS & I've been well happy with both grip & wear rate - however I am a pretty gentle rider.

So far I've always changed them in pairs with mileages of:

12 K miles

15 K miles

18 K miles (Front tired, Rear sh*gg*d beyond belief - benefit of only riding in the dark & not looking at the tyre. At least I now know the colour of the fabric under the rubber!)

Done 9 K miles on curent pair. Hopefully I plan to change the rear at 12 K (Its already feeling squared-off) & front at 15 K which I think are probably about optimum.

However based on past experience I'll probably replace them as a pair at 14 K
