Just curious, we all know new bikes / cars have teething problems. Some call early adopters beta testers. But how long do you think it will take for the new gsa to have its early issues sorted?

I have read here that some have swapped their 2013 for a 2014 (non adventure) and some of the niggles have been sorted. Just wondering how many years does it normally take bmw to fix the issues. Is it typically after the first year?

Ahh bummer, thought it would be quicker than that.

I bought a new Mondeo after 1 year that spent the first 6 months going back to the dealers for clicking noise. I eventually found an official Ford bulletin for a Fix they didn't know about where I had to bend seems on door frames to 'stress the weld' to stop the clicking.

The last Hex head was "nearly" sorted by the time it was discontinued - so about 9 years :D

Peace is normally established after later versions which will take years rather than months, you just need to think about what is acceptable and if not 100% what you can live with, there's plenty of used bikes 2013/14 about now to test ride.

Oh come on now.

Like all bikes and cars the GS and GSA design and production is not perfect. I would say BMWs are built better than some of the other makers bikes including the Jap bikes. Ride a Suzuki through the winter and see what it looks like come spring.

But BMW owners have very high expectations because of the premium status attached to the brand. Read some of the daft reasons people call out BMW assist, some of those are just plain embarrassing for the rest of us.

So the message I'm trying to get across is no it's not a Beta version but the new model is not a revision of the old model ether. It's a ground up redesign that only takes inspiration from the previous model. So the odd problem is not out of the ordinary, talk to any Honda owners lately

Best thing to do is take one out for day, and I mean day not an hour, and let that experience guide you. And BMW assist and the warrenty system are very good in my experience. I used them once for a switch gear problem.

Remember, some people just like a good winge.

Amusing and true apart from one bit that Mrs Bigtrucknuts is happy to dispute )

But I like the Adolf in a bunker parody better, I'll try and find it....

What issues? I have had a few little problems which is to be expected, switch gear and screen, but otherwise it is a brilliant bike - mine was one of the very first ones delivered in March 2013, 16000 miles and best 1200 to date.

I was happy with my April 2013 1200GS and now I'm very happy with my May 2014 1200GSA.

Truly loved by many :D

Absolutely Funny especially because of the totally wrong translation....by the way....Adolf, the old douchebag....the Germans do pronounce this bad word with F like you Brits do. So you actually won't miss a German swearing.
Jetzt müsst ihr englischen Nasen noch Deutsch lernen, dann würdet ihr das Video auch verstehen :P

Unfortunately mine had to go back. I ended up going for the last new R1200R so at least that is pretty much sorted. However it did have an issue with the fuel strip that eventually got fixed by doing away with the fuel gauge all together. Now it is a count up from the fuel light coming on.

And BMW don't charge a premium price for their premium products sorry mate wake up and smell the roses, you charge premium prices people have higher expectations, if you what evidence look at the official stats from the "Lemon Law" state side the highest number of returns across a range BMW.
