anyone fitted a better horn than standard if so what and how please my 1150 had a magnum that was well loud but the horn on this 1200 2009 model is a bit of a damp squib

Stebel Nautilus seems to be popular. But they are MORE than LOUD

I had one on my ZZR600, and it really does sound like a train. The instructions do state "Do not use in a confined space, ie. a shed".
When I got mine, I thought PPPFFFTTT. It can't be THAT loud. So I stuck it direct to a battery.

fitted a Stebel magnum instead of standard - better but not that great - have some Fiamms I want to fit but may try wiring the Stebel direct to battery first

I fitted a Stebel Magnum to mine as well. The MOT tester shit himself last Friday when he tested it

Used the horn wiring to drive a relay to the horn. (2008 r1200gs)
Am looking to wire up a switch spdt (single pole double throw) so that i can drive both horns. ( need to find one though)
Some times you need a quiet "bip"
and sometimes you need a "F.. OFF" loud horn

Is this on an '08 bike with ESA. Having removed the Stebel Nautilus Compact from my '07 GS, I find it won't fit in the same location on my '09 bike because of the ESA on the front shock.

I have a pair of magnums on the bike, and am planning to stick a nautilus on there as well.
Loud horns are great. I'm toying with the idea of sticking a set of these in the audi;

As far as I'm aware - the Stebel Magnum can be wired directly to your existing supply, but the Nautilus requires a separate relay-fed supply (17A current).
Magnum will fit in minutes, Nautilus will take a bit of time

Cool, you must be one of those legendary riders who anticipate every problem far enough in advance that you can just gently adjust your speed or path, and serenely make your way past the scene of the potential accident.
I wish that I had that sort of ability, the foresight, the skill, the general awareness that meant that I never, ever had to honk at someone to stop them encroaching on my route. The patience to just serenely stop when a pedestrian stepped between the cars, coupled with the planning to make sure that the courier was no longer tailgating me, it is all very admirable.
A guy who is so i control of the world around him truly has his destiny in his own hands. With such ability, may I ask how you applied it in the work arena? I assume that you were comfortably a millionaire by the time you were thirty, have a string of charitable foundations, and are well on the way to curing cancer.
2008 without esa. The esa will block where i have mounted the horn. do a search for stebel nautilus on this site and achim. I followed his install.
As I mentioned needs a relay.

If the horn works for you then fine, great, long may it be so
But never let it be your last line of defence
The person you pap at might be deaf, or listening to the 1812 at full volume with 'in hear stereo'

In London, I actually use it for freezing pedestrians mid stride. With the original horn, they'd hear the "parp" and just keep wandering right in front of me, meaning I had to stop. The twin magnums seem to hit a deeper part of their brain, a primitive part that says "I am about to be flattened, and have no idea what by". This lets me happily keep making progress.
Unfortunately, crossing this city, you either have to make your space, and force your right of way, or accept that it wil be a long, long journey every time.

I've got a Steibel on my 06 GSA wired as a direct replacement and whilst not as good as a pair it does the job. Car driver's think they've cut off a 38 tonne truck.

Are you running the pair of Magnums direct from the battery or will they run off the OEM Canbus feed used by the OEM horn?

I ran a single one from the canbus, but for the twins, decided that I ought to go via a relay direct from the battery.
I'm not certain what the draw is for them, but seem to remember that it was supposedly too much, and I definitely don't want to face tripping the electrics in a crisis wen what I wanted to do was let the world know that I was there.
