I have a GSA wc and I am finding the screen a little low on protection. There seems to be a few taller/wider after market screens available .
My question is which ones have guys found the most effective .

Puig with top deflector if your over 6’

Proven

Good luck

Get the MRA X-Creen and put it on top of the existing GSA screen.

Coming from a GS, I've tried the std one with the Xscreen(sp?) add-on, std GSA, Givi and Puig Touring. The Puig is the one the suits me best - even though I'm only a shortie at 5'8"... It's like riding in a bubble of still air.

I am 6’4 and have the puig screen. It is noticeably better than the standard but I would like to try a spoiler on one to see if it makes it even better. Anyone tried?

I am also normal sized at 6’4” and the Puig with a deflector fitted. (Fitted it myself) I can angle the deflector to put air on me in the summer or in the rain I can put air on my visor.

Quite good but what do I know, as I came to this GSA from an RT and that had carpet in the top box so am clearly a soft southern Jessie.

BTW for me the biggest difference was to lift the seat up at the front using the lowering cam rubber things, means I can have the seat at a good height without having to have the seat to high.

Which deflector did you fit. Did it reduce general buffering? I have lowered the seat. Did you lower the front and back of the seat or just the front?

Yes it works ..... also 6’4”

Plus one for Puig touring screen, i do use a Wunderlich screen support to stop it flexing.

+1 for the Puig.
I'm 5'11" and use the screen on its own .

Visor up at motorway speeds is no problem.

The only thing I've found to be an issue is the screen lift/lower mechanism will not move the screen above about 45 mph due to the extra wind pressure on the screen.
I'm not sure if the additional supports mentioned alleviate this.

I have the Puig supports which stop the excessive movement (at speed) and they allow the screen to be adjusted on the go, but not much, if any, above 45/50mph.

As far as I know the Puig ones are the only supports that don't lock the screen in place, so you can easily adjust on the fly - speed dependant. Had the Givi (one side only) support on a earlier bike and it was rubbish. Took it off and replaced with another Puig set.

We get this issue coming up on all the bike forums. The fact is, what suits one rider doesn't always help another. The stock screen is always a compromise.

Obviously one can fit the veritable barn door of a screen & sit behind in a quiet bubble pressed forward by a back-draught, but load the bike with luggage & your pillion will likely be the one doing the complaining. Hit wet weather on a dark night & you will be cursing every headlight coming towards you, what with the rain on the screen & your inability to keep your visor clear inside or out. Similarly strong winds will snatch at the steering more readily.

My message, for what it's worth, is to experiment when riding, to see precisely what is causing you a problem. Don't always blame the screen first. Sometimes it's turbulent air created by mirrors or the aerodynamics of the nose of the bike & something like winglets may solve the issue. Other times it's noise from helmet vents or draughty visors, maybe even your clothing choices creating drag.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I have come from riding RT's for the past 10 years and at present the gsa is a bit draughty at the moment. Perhaps more miles on it will get me used to it.

It was the PUIG deflector, had to be careful drilling the holes in the screen.
In respect to the seat, I raised it, not lowered as it felt like I was too low at the front.

Probably only adding to the confusion, had the exact same problem with the screen seeming a fraction too low.I bought a used MRA x creen from Nin from this parish and it works a treat...worth sticking an add in the wanted section once you know what you would like to try, maybe some kind sole would be prepared to let you try before you buy. Your more than welcome to have a try of my bike if you like
