Bevel Box!!

To those much wiser than I or me! Have a noisy diff, out put bearing. Have a spare unit which needs a new output bearing, has anyone got any advice re stripping out input side for inspection, it all looks grubby.

Probably the best advice would be hand it to a dealer, this will be the 4th one and dont want to fund BMWs Xmas party single handed.

You could send it to the highly regarded Steve Scriminger, http://scriminger.co.uk/, no idea of price.

I'd be wary of giving it to any BMW technician without knowing his level of proficiency, I've got a real downer on 'technicians' in general.

Thanks for that.

Have taken a spare one apart and had a play with it. Its all fairly staright forward looks like I do not need to spend £300 on some one else getting it wrong!

Most dealers won't touch them.... But they will sell you a new one. There is a nice video on you tube showing you how to do it yourself.

Worth checking the shimming if you're doing it yourself, at least then you know it's right
