Open invite to those that want to experience some of Hertfordshires finest green lanes.

Start from Cafe Nero Harpenden 9:00
Distance 100 miles
Aimed at those that want to use big trail bikes
TKC or similar tyres (or road tyres for those that know what they're doing, and if you have to ask if that could mean you, it's not you :D)
Expect mud, puddles, a few ruts ( but not many ) and nothing that will leave you stranded down a technical dead end

Post your interest or confirmation :thumb2

I have a 650, my son has a 660. How much of the 100 miles is between trails please. Can you give us some idea of the route please. Would there be a lot of A road high speed work? Thank you.

It's Hertfordshire, there are no really long green lanes, so lots of road sections between each trail and we will do around 30 green lanes. But nothing that requires blasting along, it's all nice country lanes (except one bit nipping a corner of Luton.

The route will go north west then anti clockwise and end up coming back towards harpenden from Hertford then Welham Green direction.

I soooo wish I could be there but will be away skiing. I look forward to the ride report.

Went our early this morning for a 70 mile loop of the lanes, it was dim, dank and steamy - I'm impressed with the grip I'm getting from a worn Heidenau on the rear.

Ill give it a bash anyone got any good tyre suppliers local to Hitchin Luton Harpenden, so I can get me some TKC'S

You might want to consider a TKC on the front and a Heidenau http://www.zenoverland.com/tyres_tubes/heidenau-k60-k60-scout.html on the back.

Rear TKC wear a lot quicker than the front but a Heidenau K60 on the rear has a good wear rate and although I thought Id be compromising on traction it appears to work well.

This rear has now done 3500 miles and has surprised me with its ability to find traction.

Hi there,

I'd be interested too assuming I can get some TKCs on in time. What's the appetite for clueless newbies on massive bikes (GSA) holding up the pace and or breaking things (best case the bike, worst case myself)?

We all had to start sometime and this is Hertfordshire so you'll never be far from a road

If you arrive with some TKC fitted and the confidence to give it ago you'll be fine
