Big Bore CRF300L

Big bore, cams, intake costs nearly a grand. Add in rear shocks and fork springs, another £600.
Crf starts to get expensive for what it is.
My 300 got rear shock, decent tyres, bars and a few other bits. It's fine for light off roading.
Adam reimann extreme enduro shows what can be done in the right hands.

Don’t know what it weighs but I’m surprised how little power it makes, even with all the modifications and big bore kit

My 350 (330cc) Forza makes just 2 hp less and makes more torque, it’s not exactly a performance oriented motor :nenau

And yes, I do get that low power means easygoing and controllable, but still

I’ve done it.
Rides a treat, very reliable. Pulls nicely up hills now. Is it a 690 enduro rival? Of course not.
But I feel I have a very usable bike, just what I wanted. No regrets.
Worth every penny for me.

I'll also be interested to see what other work you've done on the bike.
YouTube Vlogger 'Shonky Productions' also did a big bore kit, remap, exhaust, air box etc, etc....

I basically bought the high flow air box, air box velocity stack, air filter, high flow snorkel. Obviously the BBK and then had my ECU remapped by Ari.

It was a very smooth transaction to purchase and import. Everything declared to my insurance and they never batted an eyelid.

The hardest part was access to the parts (well documented on You Tube). But install was ok.

I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Other mods to the bike compliment the engine works.

The bike has much more pep now. It no longer has that annoying buzz at 5k. It pulls up the lanes now as I would have hoped.

I watched the shonky videos before taking the plunge. Couldn’t keep my mind off it, think I was getting possessed with the idea of doing this.

I have 9,000miles on my Rally which I've owned from new. Other than upgrading the suspension, bars, levers and pegs I've resisted messing with the engine fuelling to keep it ultra reliable.
But it's the engine which lets it down, otherwise a great bike.
Did you remove the pair valve, charchol cannister, cat and lamba sensor?

I replaced whatever Ari advised for the stage of tune I went for. I’m no mechanic that’s for sure.
The bits I listed are what I bought and fitted. It’s been super reliable to date, doesn’t leak any oil. To be honest it looks and feels OEM other than it’s fantastic to ride.
I was not interested in a bike that needed lots of service intervals. I guess a DRZ 400 would have given extra horses. But wasn’t fussed about going that way. I wanted a CRF with some oomph.

But check Ari’s website if you like charts and power bands etc etc. Personally I’m not fussed about that, I’m happy with the real world gains.
If you’re in Cumbria (I live in Dent) and I also have Air BnB accommodation available. Come and take a look. I’ll show you some trails.

TOG, I may well take you up on that offer.....thank you!

You got a planned route in Morocco?

No. I never make really make rigid plans. There's two trails I want to ride..... Merzouga to Tagounite and then onto Foum Zguid, plus some of the TMT.
Planning to stay well south of the Atlas as it'll be cold up there at Altitude in January.
Have you ridden in
Maroc?

How much did you get stung with vat and import duty ?

I can’t remember. Honestly, I was so excited to get the kit and even happier it’s as described. Whatever it was it was worth it. Not much help I’m afraid. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
I was really keen to fit the kit so just went for it.

Looks like most of the extra power comes at 5000rpm+. I guess it will definitely increase the top speed but do you feel much difference low down? What annoyed me the most was jerking throttle at 10-20% but delkevic full system and dynojet power vision 3 solved it.

If that chart is correct it looks like the tuned engine hardly works below 5000, giving much less power and torque than std
