I have never met Bert but, having given to him in the past, I believe he's making a real effort to do something worthwhile.
I have had 15 days without an alcholic beverage of any sort (but did make up for it yesterday, kicking of with a Beaujolais Nouveau breakfasf, followed by Sporting Speaker of the Year lunch at the Grosvenor House, followed by a full evening on the beer until 11pm).
I have now got the next 15 days to get through, with no booze.
I will donate the price of a pint per day of abstinance to Bert's fund. That's 30days at £3 = £90 on its way now to the account.
As I would normaly do more than one pint a day, I will join your list of underwriters to share the final shortfall if there is any.
Cheers,
Richard
Thank you Richard for your sacrifice of dumping the golden amber awhile - it's a 'wapping' great one! - much appreciated
Last year, the meds cost £ 3563.28 and no doubt the prices will have gone up. Please keep donating- Time is almost up!
and bless you all for the support you are giving me to get these life-saving medicines to those little ones.
David Hale, Schianinni, Marjorie P., Oblertone, Shep, The Stoat, ToadA small note to thank you for 'stepping up' to put yourselves as guarantors to ensure sufficient medicines could be bought for this IIIrd Mission.
I am glad to say that thanks to your generosity and that of others , this is no longer required.
The bank stands at £4297.50 today Tuesday 20th
From here on, any other domations made will, of course, increase the volume of Malarone and other items I have been asked to bring.
The only limiting factor is the weight that my pick up can carry without busting an axle !
I am placing the meds order this Friday to meet the deadline. Bank to Bank transfers can still be made if anyone wishes to. My heartfelt thanks to you all.
I'm taking a small video (aging like me ) along with a camera so piccies when I return.
Final total fundraising is £ 6002.50
Meds order placed - still running around collecting other medical material donations then the weighing and loading begins! followed by paperwork for SOS Village.
If anyone has a query about the monies feel free to speak to Caroline at SOS Children's Village in Cambridge on 01223 365589. She will have bank statements before I go. Any queries about the mission, write/pm/email/skype/MSN/ call me!
