The trail ride organised by Simon for this Saturday is still on. Simon is currently unable to post as his broadband is not working.

So:-

We meet up at Newlands Corner near Guildford on Saturday 22nd July at 10:00

The route is a popular trail ride using only legal Byways with hill climbs, mud (not in this weather), water, chalk, flint tracks and sand. We meet up at Newlands Corner car park near Guildford on the A25 - Dorking Road.

Streetmap is

HERE

Be there or miss out on a fun day. Look forward to about 60/70 miles of dirt with a stop at a pub half way round for lunch. We leave at 10:00 and expect to be back at the car park for 15:00

In fact, due to the lack of rain over the past few weeks this route will be OK for GS riders.

Please put a posting here if you intend to come along.

Roy.

Saturday is on.....!!!!!

Guys, sorry for the delay in gettig back to you (broadband issues... fecking BT)

Roy, many thanks for comfirming details.

See you all at Newlands Corner for a 10.00am kick-off.

I've somehow become roped in to childminding a neice and nephew on Saturday, not sure yet what time they are being dropped off here.

I now have another problem.

Sneaking the SE into the garage tomorrow is all planned.

Sneaking it back out again on the Saturday to go riding for the day then sneaking it back in again. Will need a plan more cunning than Mr fox straight out of cunning university.

no problem, I have a cunning plan....

You can leave it in my garage if you want... I don't charge but you'll need to leave the keys with me :thumb

Clive, there are two loops to this ride centred around the Guildford area so could come along for the first (new) part and depart if needed......?

I may do that (still under negotiation ;) - as Roy mentioned - since it has been so dry, I was toying with the idea of using the 1200GS - is the "new" part GSable ?

Clive,

I rode to work today on the HP2 on the Super Moto wheels and did a few of the tracks so i'd say it is definately rideable on the GS. There are a couple of bits you may want to miss out but these are short sections and avoidable if necessary.

cheers

Simon

I've just put the super moto's on my HP and now can't decide whether to come on the XR, Adventure or HP. The HP looks least likely as the front wheel is such a PIA to change ( without having the center stand... ).

I think I might come on the Adventure

Excuses already

Can I come and play too? Before I clean up all my gear after Tues/Wed in Wales...couple of questions....

Do you think I'll be OK on road tyres?

Where is Newlands Corner?

Where is Newlands Corner?

Newlands Corner is east of Guildford about a mile south, on the A25, from the junction (roundabout) with the A246 & A247.

Look back in this thread to Blue Sweepers message where he has a link to a map of the area.

As for the road tyres, you should be OK as long as we don't get a big down pour between now and Saturday. I rode a few of the lanes this morning on the HP2 with SM wheels on with no problems at all.

Awww come-on.....

I'll be putting the off-roaders back on tonight as I will definately be bringing the HP2.

It would be great to get as many as we can there - so the pressure is on!!!

So far if you bring yours I think we have 4:

Bluesweeper
Mr Tickle
Karlz (?)
and me....

Any more?
