ok dudes.
this has probably been done to death but here goes........
I need tyres for mt r1150gs & not sure to go for the metz tourances or the bt020.bt021 option
I probably will at most go down a sand road & a bit of grass time to time but want a tyre that is the best in the wet & when the roads go all shiny & shitty in winter for my daily commute, tyre life is inportant but not at the expense of a safe tyre in winter ?
any help & ideas for prices very welcome
cheers
John

Tyres

Conti trail attacks were brillant in the wet/dry loads of grip but i only got 6k out of the rear, others have got a lot more out of em. Got old style tourances at the mo, not quite as much grip as the conti's but more than enough and ok in the wet. At 6k they are hardly worn.

tourance exp's ??? vs tourance standard, how do I know the diff when buying ?? wil it say exp on it ?? still undecided on this or the bt020 /bt021 choice??? - anyone from worcester know where best to shop ???

ps. still lovin the new gs !!!!

Old tourances for me too thank you........

Grip is plenty, life is .............great at least.

Do you guys who recommend Tourances (old ones) not ride on motorways much? I've always found they square off far too quickly - maybe the fact I ride with a pillion a lot makes this worse but I can barely scrape 6k miles out of a rear and by that time the front is going a funny shape too.

My current rear is so square the bike barely needs a centre stand - still a few hundred miles left in it but I won't be going for the same again as I've had similar squaring off issues on previous ones. I had Roadsmarts on my Bandit and the rear was only half worn at 8k miles - amazing tyres, but I don't know how they'll work on the GS. And they don't look right on a GS........:nenau

Personally I hate the BT's (but thats just me). I found their wet grip poor and they need to be nice and warm before they start to feel comfortable at reasonable lean angles. On the plus side I got over 20K km (whatever that is in miles) out of them and they wore pretty evenly. Have old style Tourances on now and they are a better option IMHO.
