Been offered a deal on my 08 GSA for a 2010 RT SE any reason you can think of why I should/should not go for the deal!!
Except of cause I won't be a Tosser any more or maybe I will!!!:augie

New twin cam RT??

Dont know what deal you have been offered but Im sure I might be able to offer you a sweeter deal against a very new 10 reg twin cam RT SE with all the toys.

Call me if your interested.

Not ridden a GS, but I do have a 2010 RTSE.
Its brilliant. Good riding position, big fuel tank, torque, fairing, cruise control.
Highly recommended.

An RT would probably suit my riding needs far better than my GSA but I don't think I'd ever get one because they look really dull and boring

My bike needs to have the wow factor when I open the garage door and be something I'm proud to own

The GSA ticks the above for me whilst the RT just doesn't

Having gone from GS to RT and then back to GS, I'd say think what you will be mainly using the bike for. If it's massive long Euro tours then the RT with it's fairing and cruise etc is ideal. If you want to have some fun on the twisty bits and still be able to tour then go for the GS, it does a little bit of everything well.

+1

Did the GSA to RT-SE and only kept it about 6 months. Plus it was corroding very badly so ditched it.

i fancied an RT for a while, but kept my GS... I always felt that the RTs must be dead slow as they look huge and share the GS motor (which doesn't exactly ooze power),so I binned the idea.

Since then I have ridden an RT and I have to admit, they are brilliant. Possibly the lightest BIG bikes around, they have low center of gravity (and are actually a lot lighter than say a Pan) and feel no heavier than the GS. They go deceptively fast too. Like the GS. They are way better travelling bikes, beating easily the already v good GS, but are quite big for the city - bigger than the GSA as they have less steering lock, i.e they don't work as well in trafic.

As you live in London like me, i d think its wiser to stick with your GSA and spend the money on a nice holiday.

My issue is more whether to move from a GS to a GSA. Always worried that the GSA would be too big and clumsy but have not had a problem with the GS. Toyed with the idea of the RT and went for two test rides. A great bike and little wind turbulence if you adjust the screen. BUT. It was dull. Just not so deliciously flickable as the GS. Some people must have changed from GS to GSA or back and what did they think and why did they do it? I did a search but unfortunately unearthed very little although I am sure I have seen discussions in the past.

I`ve had both (and the Rt), prefer the GS to the GSA, less bulk, dont need the fuel tanker mileage range, prefer the GSA screen, panniers, and wheels though, but they can be fitted to the GS anyway:)

Do the BMW GSA panniers, hold much more kit, compared to the vairo panniers.

there is a really good thread on this subject ,its in the GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT ONE section and is titled RT or GSA
on about second page
Melly Senior has written a really good thread on the topic
I am sure there is a way of posting the info on to here but its beyond me how one does it :thumb

Indeed they do, and much more conveniently. But check out our vendors first - better value and quality all round IMHO.
Hi All thanks for all the input, well I exchanged the GSA for the RT yesterday like it so far. The only reason to change was 2 ops on my ankle and since had a problem with the height with the GSA even with a Sargent low seat!!!! I have to say its nice to have a ride and put my foot flat and no painful/swollen ankle!!! Next test will be Spain in a few week and the switch backs of the Pyrennes (not sure its going to be easy) Cheer all Paul
