Loc2Roues in Marrakech: http://www.loc2roues.com/motos.php
Also in Marrakech: http://www.marrakesh-hotels.com/marrakech/carrent.htm

Never go to loc2roues in Marrakech to rent a bike. You can have a lot of problems with these people and, worst of all you can end-up in the middle of the Atlas with your broken bike.
Here you have an alternative : www.m2r.ma Tel: +(212) 61 59 27 14 . These are serious businessmen.
I've done both and i know what i'm talking about.

Hope this info will help some people.

Thanks for the link, I've added it into the Knowledgebase.

I've read good things about loc2roues, it's a pity they didn't work out for you.

Tim
We've worked alongside loc2 for some time, normally they are pretty good guys, shame you had a bad experience, it's the exception.
Feel free to rent from us ex Marrakech if you require an alternative, www.locoformotos.com for the rates. F 650 GS available from three day minimum hire, hope this helps someone.

Thanks, added in.
Hi Tim,
New here and came through Bill Oates at Moto Morocco. Not sure how much to post or say as, obviously we are a commercial enterprise and don't want to be "hijacking" any posts or forums for commercial gain. Could you advise how to proceed? We have bases in Malaga and Marrakech and are happy to help and advise travellers where we can, but some of it might be viewed as free advertising. Love your information and this must prove invaluable for travellers. Do you post anything at Horizon's Unlimited?
All the best,
Tim Skilton

Sorry for you if you had a bad experience. I hire the bikes of loc2roues for me and my friends allready for 5 years now and I have good experiences. Off course one time something broke down because one of us fell:aidan. The next day Nourredine arrived in the deep south with another bike.

Have fun biking in Morocco.

Bey, Marco from Holland.

M2R

I definitely don’t advice hiring a bike at M2R.ma, I’ve had an awful experience ending up with a broken bike in the middle of the dessert. When asking for a refund I ended up discussing this issue at the police station, forcing this wretched company to pay me at least some of the money back the ought me. After which the owner of this company threatened to empty my credit card account. Don’t trust these guys, they will rip you off…

hiring bikes

So I can advise which compagny not to take, next time, Ill spend a bit more money and will look for the most legit compagny avaliable, better a more expensive bike rental then having to deal with legal problems, which will cost you more time and money. Perhaps renting a bike in spain and crossing over to maroc is probelly the best..

2 Wheel Travel

Myself and a mate are looking at hiring two 800GSs for a week in mid-November, picking up in Marrakech. Planning to book the bikes through 2 Wheel Travel. Has anyone dealt with them before? Do you know who the agent in Marrakech is?

Cheers,
Lee

Rental options

I rented a couple of days from M2R last year (a Transalp) and had no problem doing the Marrakech Tiz-n-Test pass then Ouarzazate and then offroad via Telouet back to Marrakech. the bike was a little tired though. This year I rented an 800GS 3 days from PalmRoad (if I understand rightly, the same company as Loco4motos?). I did Marrakech through to Merzouga by road, then Zagora via Alnif, including 140kms offroad, then back to Marrakech via Agdz and Tiz-n-Test. No problems at all. The bike was in excellent condition. I don't think the owner was happy with me having done the offroad stuff though, really (Understandable somewhat perhaps as I was solo and didn't have back up, though he hadn't told me not to. And I was careful with the bike, more so even than my own). I think he hadn't expected me to do 1600kms over the three days either. A very serious set-up from what I could see and one I would recommend.
Never tried Loc2roues but I'm most surprised at the commet and suspect it is an unfounded slanderous one (maybe the author could give a few specific details?) as I have it from an excellent source on the French forum (one of my co-moderators) that Céline and Nourradine have a very professional set-up too.

Hi Lee
I would appreciate your experiences of renting when you return:thumb2.

People with very few posts slagging off different companies really does muddy the waters and raises suspiscions about their motives:nenau.

BIKE HIRE IN MARRAKECH

Back from my (short) Morocco trip and and would highly recommend Loc2Roues in Marrakech for bike hire. My mate and I hired 2 BMW F650 GS twins with H&B Gobi panniers. One of my panniers clipped a rock while we were riding a piste (they were much wider than the width of the bars, a fact I forgot about!) and sent me and the bike flying, resulting in busted locks on both panniers and more scuffs on the Barkbusters, though no cosmetic damage to the tank/panels. You only get 3rd party insurance with Loc2Roues so I was worried about the cost of repairs, but when we returned the bikes and I told the owner (Nourradine) what had happened, his response was 'That's not a big problem'! No charge for replacement locks (he was more concerned that I was okay) and he even gave us a free lift to the riad we'd booked for the night. The bikes performed effortlessly, are clearly well-maintained and Nourradine was cool about us riding on piste. When we told him where we were planning to ride, he even produced two pairs of new nylon straps and used them to secure the panniers to the frames on both bikes - as if he knew what was likely to happen! Just as well he did as with busted locks, the only thing holding my panniers to the frames were those straps! More BMWs are being added to the fleet next year. I'll definitely be using Loc2Roues again - until I can squeeze in a trip that's long enough for me to ride my own bike down.

Thanks for reporting back Lee-it is much appreciated :thumb
It's looking like I won't have the time to ride my own bike down there next year so fly/ride is now the plan.

cheers-Tony

Since my earlier responses on this thread friends have on three occasions hired bikes from loc2roues whilst I rode my Tenere.

The first time 2x XT660R, second time BMW XCountry, third time F650GS single. Bikes are well maintained, if sometimes a bit battered, but no problems.

I've met Tim Skilton (above) from Locoformotos several times and he runs a professional ship, so there's another good source for Marrakech bike hire.
