Bike insurance- who’s good or bad at moment?

I look at the underwriter rather than the broker.
Markerstudy are on the do not touch list.
Ageas & Aviva are preferred. Neither sell bike insurance direct so you have to go via a broker

If a broker is shit you can always go direct to the underwriter. You really do not want to be covered through a Markerstudy broker (C Nash, Swinton et al) and have a policy underwritten by them as well.

Sage (not saga) insurance advice, as ever

I can only speak for price.as i have never had to make a claim.at the moment these seem good on price.Lexham insurance.have a read of the small print to see what is and is not offered in the policy

And yet when I was with markerstudy they offered more than the market price when one of my bikes was written off?
Quick and easy

I 've just gone with Swinton JB
4 bikes, R1150GSA, WR250R (Ex-Marks) Guerrilla 450 and K1100LT)
£350.11
Insurer is Ageas.

a sample size of one is not quite the same as a consensus across multiple review and social media platforms, especially where repairs are involved not a total loss.

Carole Nash have just given me a quote for 3 bikes £292.73 incl breakdown/recovery & no claims protect which I thought was fair, and I will probably go with it.
Depends on total value of bikes / no claims disc / any previous claims / traffic violations / postcode, plus a host of other considerations to be fair.

What a fucking palalaver shopping around for insurance quotes

So many questions, so time consuming

I just cross reference a couple of comparison sites

unlike some others, they are not owned by Admiral, Esure etc. I generally ignore the "cheaper" ones at the top of the list with stupidly high excesses and pared back policies.

however, I suspect you are wanting to cover multiple bikes which can be more complex than my 1 bike home.

Thanks
Yep 6 bikes
3 main road going bikes (T7 and BMW GS)
3 specialist off-road bikes

So not straightforward as I found out speaking to Bikesure at teatime

Not looking good so far 🙈

Bikesure came back £30 cheaper than my current renewal invite - BUT no breakdown cover

Add that in at £85 and they’re £50-60 more expensive

Insurer is West Bay (never heard of them - but part of Makerstudy group)

Plus XS on a 21 year old 1150 GSA is £500 v’s the current insurer’s £50 (90% worse) 🙈😡

So they as the UK’s biggest motorcycle broker (their words 😊) trawled 51 insurance companies and come up with this 🤦

Where do they dream up these figures 🤔🙃🤦

I’ve just been through this. Ended up going with Honda insurance ( bikesure , I think) the policy is the same as my current one (Aviva) but £450 less excess. My current thieves wanted an extra £110 for the same thing. :blast
Personally I wish we could deal direct with the insurers.

As always, JB, what suits one bod, might not necessarily suit another. Shopping around is the only way to find what meets your needs.

I shifted (with assistance from my colleagues) my multi-vehicle policy from Hiscox this year, to Aurum. Aurum are part of Dual. But, in a sense, I am usual as it’s a multi-vehicle policy, with vehicles in a central London E1 postcode and away from home.

The reason for the shift? Simply on price / terms offered by Hiscox (who are great to deal with) versus Aurum. Next year things might well be different again, as I’ll may well have no motorcycles.

Hastings Direct keep on reducing my premium year on year, so I am sticking with them.
