I'm really dubious about the mpg figures. So they only managed to squeeze 42mpg from a 1250? what were they doing, riding in 3rd gear everywhere? My 1200 returned close on 60mpg on a recent 120 mile run and a mate riding his 1250 returned 55mpg. Go figure. We weren't thrashing the bikes and keeping within posted speed limits but making decent progress. The more I read from test reports, the less inclined I am to think this is a such a milestone step except in improved, lighter handling. The significant power hike seems to be from 6000 revs, an area I rarely frequent as there's simply no need to. Pillion didn't seem very impressed either. It also seems no lighter when spec'd up (260Kg). I noted too the dismay with the lack of backlighting on the buttons, maybe they'll do something about this by the time they get to the 1400, or perhaps not until they get to the 2 litre version🤣 There seems a lot to like about this bike, but still, it does seem to be limited to a more sprightly feel in the handling and top end power. I'm still not tempted. For some, the newest and bestest and shiniest will always be a rainbow to chase though and good luck if that is your thing. May you get may happy years out of one.

Not really sure how they can complain about the lack of backlit switchgear, say it’s uncomfortable for a pillion, have it pack up on them and then give it 9.5 out of 10 ?

Bauer would never be influenced by the size of BMW's advertising budget across all of their media. Perish the thought.

Yet MCN gave a more balanced review and said the 1300 is not worth the trade up from the 1250. Also Bauer.

it's a mystery for sure

watch out for Bike journos turning left as they get on one of your flying buses

It seems that starter issue is why they’ve put a hold on them being released from dealers.

Genius . BMW have done it again . Do they ever release a new model that actually works without a recall on day 1 ??

My Motorrad connections tell me it's a deliberate ploy to enable you to keep up your posting mileage on the new bike. Any publicity.... :augie

Suggest you read my posts then . I actually like the new bike and foolishly thought it may actually be ok.

The headlight may be next, as the Green one at the NEC was full of condensation and when pressed down on it, water came out.
