Mine's started doing that, although not theat kinda quantity, and I suspect (but haven't confirmed yet) it's the FD seal.

Check your gear box oil level and/or colour and see if it's low 'cos that looks very mucky for gear box oil?

Check your gearbox breather isn't blocked.

Place mouth over fill hole and you should be able to blow - if you go red and fall over then breather is blocked (and will cause oil to weep passed seal).

C'mon just suck on the tube. If its blocked you'll suck the gunk out - problems solved. Cant risk kak like that getting into the gearbox can we.

It could also be the back axle input seal, but it's rough looking oil for back axle or gearbox.

Here's my theory, ....... water has got into the final drive, more than might be caused by simply a blocked breather, either the final drive has been immersed by say Fording and / or the paralever has filled with water and got past the pinion seal which is now bollixed and leaking in both directions (Seals are good at stopping fluid leakage in one direction only )

Recommend you drop the Final drive and check the condition of the U/Joints and drive shaft, the U/J's can be badly affected by water.

undo the front cable tie at the gearbox end fold the front rubber boot back and you will see if its the gearbox output shaft seal,if its bone dry there it must be at the final drive end

Drop the final drive and examine everything properly. Also take the chance to grease the paralever bearings.

that isnt an 1200 f/d
bit easier to replace the seal on a 11xx

Oil seals keep oil in, they're crap (ish) at keeping water out.

My guess, based on my own similar problem will be water ingress past the rubber boots into the swinging arm. Water collects therein, ride the bike, final drive warms up then, when it cools it sucks water in, past the input seal.

1, drain the final drive oil, if it's milky then it's confirmed.

2, drop final drive, if water has got in then the input bearings will be running in water and not oil = not good. can you move the input shaft back and forth or up, down, sideways? If so it's shagged the bearings.

3, whilst in there check the UJ's as if that's been running in water it's also probably shagged.

Sort it soonest as continued water exposure will pile on the damage....
