I was here, trying to get there
Hi all, my 1150GSA rolls forward far too easily for comfort when its parked on the side stand and I've nearly dropped it twice now  Have any of you gents found this and come up with a solution?
There's a 3/4" nylon puck fitted when i bought the bike to stop it leaning too far over or sinking.
Thought i'd look into this while we endure another ice age and i'm off the road :(

The puck could be the issue

Just always leave it in 1st gear when stopped and you use the sidestand

Loaded and fuelled or light. OK lightish.

Yip, in gear is a big tip and the puck idea is 'cos they tip easily on a slight camber especially when loaded as they are extra top heavy.

Let it fall on its side!!

I might be underneath it
Yep, i do put in in first gear.
Yep, i do face uphill when possible but my drive does have a slight slope.
Just been in the garage looking at the puck, it's a little larger than the original sidestand foot but not much, i think i may make another that overhangs to the front of the bike, making the stand a bit of an L shape if that makes sense.
It seams as if i filed a bit off the sidestand stop that may help, then maybe i'll need a thicker puck. Will keep y'all posted.
Thanks for the replies guys.

My 1150 rolls of the sidestand (unmodified, GS) when facing downslope and not in gear. Mostly I don't do that. Occasionally I pick it up again. Is it me or the bike that's building character?

back again

Could just be me being a "tosser" true enough, but when i say slight slope i do mean slight, as in barely noticeable. My other bikes have no problem with it and in 15 years here I've never had it happen until the arrival of the GSA. Maybe my stand is a bit bent (oh no, started another line of banter :blast) :augie

Last time I picked mine up it had rolled into a barely noticeable pair of maybe 5cm deep dips in the dirt when I stopped to close my front gate - spaced beautifully to accommodate both wheels. Now I stop the bike with the wheels in said dips, bonus is the stand is on the higher ground between them so less of a lift when I depart. Doesn't take much, sometimes.

Leave it in GEAR....Hello

Also, once it's in gear, roll it forward a couple of inches to take the slack out of the drivetrain before putting it on the sidestand

your oil needs balancing, you have too much in the left hand cylinder...

Maybe I'm parked on a lay line?

Maybe I'm parked on a lay line and the earths magnetic forces are dragging the bike down:trippy
Seriously though, of all the bikes I've had, the GSA is the only one thats ever done it. I was reading a thread where folks were concerned about them tipping over when loaded and another with concerns about the side stand on the tunnel train, maybe it's just a weak spot in the design:confused:
I can feel an attack of engineering coming on after Christmas :yikes.

:postpics
Post a piccy of it from the rear.
Should be able to check the angle of the dangle then and see if you've got a bent whatnot.

You've actually answered your own question.

"It has a 3/4 inch puck fitted to the side-stand"

There's your problem - the bike is too upright; mine had a 1/2 inch puck and this made it borderline unstable.
