Posting here as there appears to be no subforum that deals with the above...
There appears to be discounts with bike insurance if you fit a Thatcham approved security mechanism; e.g. Disc-Lock, Chain/Lock combo, Datatag etc.
I've got an Abus Granite chain/lock combo that's a some years old now and although it's probably adequate for securing the bike whilst out & about (lets face it, if someone wants to nick the bike, they will), it's unlikely to yield any discount when renewing the insurance policy.
Regarding Disc-Locks, the Oxford Screamer is Thatcham approved and does apparently get you a discount of sorts. When looking at the equivilent Kabrus product it appears to have got past the problem of spurious alarms going off, but I cant seem to find out if it's thatcham approved too.
So following on from the above, here's the question(s)...
Anyone got experience with what security products give true discounts to bike insurance policies, and if so, what Insurance Co gave it?
TIA
-Andy.
