The Apart Vivaldi is run by Dutchman Jan Wilmink (former Dutch Natonal Enduro Champion) & his Austrian wife Regina. The accommodation is modest & very well priced. Apart Vivaldi offer double rooms & apartments on a bed-and-breakfast basis. There are at least five good quality restaurants within a couple of minutes walk from the Vivaldi, thus giving us the choice to sample a different venue & cuisine each evening during our stay. The itinerary for the duration of this trip is not “cast in stone”. For the remainder of the week everyone is free to explore this wonderful part of the world. The mountain passes and lakeside roads offer some tremendous riding and stunning views.

Switzerland, Italy and Germany are all within easy reach & riding is not beyond the capabilities of the complete novice! Bikes can be securely parked in the garage area which also boasts facilities to carry out maintenance on your bike free of charge. So for the next four days the options are endless. After a buffet-style breakfast check the weather conditions and maybe join one of the guided tours. We head off into the Alps enjoying the fantastic roads and clear fresh air. We will sample some of the many mountain passes which number over one hundred throughout the region!

One thing is for sure when we return from our trip out we can enjoy a nice cool beer on the terrace! Tell other bikers about our day out and then after a hot shower pop next door to the restaurant for a sumptuous pizza or maybe a tender sirloin steak.

The rest of the week is spent however you wish. On one of the days you may choose to don your hiking boots & take a hike in this amazing mountain region. Why not take a day off & visit nearby Landeck or even Innsbruck? Another option might be to jump on the bike and visit Füssen and the fairytale Castle of Neuschwanstein in Germany. For those keen to ride the mountain passes there will be ample opportunities .

Friday 8th July Breakfast then it’s time to leave the Vivaldi & head off back through Austria & Germany to our hotel near Stuttgart. Check-in, shower, then off to a local restaurant for an evening meal.

Saturday 9th July After an early breakfast we continue our journey through Germany & Belgium to Aachen where we spend our last night before catching the ferry from Calais. On the way we may choose to stop at the medieval town of Boppard on Rhein – or even ride the famous Nurburgring!

Sunday 10th July Breakfast then a leisurely ride through Belgium to the port of Calais. A 90 minute ferry journey & we are back in the UK (Dover). The ferry docks at about 14:00 hrs giving us time to have lunch on the boat then bid farewell to our fellow riders before making our way home.
