superb results, he uses ceramic coating to seal the acf50 after cleaning. no connection, other than a happy customer.

He will collect your bike in his van and drop it back, from your office or home.

ACF50 i know, love and trust. Cermamic? WTF is that? I have heard about ceramic coatings to replicate the black finish on exhaust systems from the 80’s, but not as an ‘application’

They seam to be just polishes that stay on a really long time.....using some sort of Klingon "nano" partical warp technology!!!



I can't see how it could be used over a coating of a fine lubricant/corrosion inhibitor......

Hi Guys if your keen please read some other threads 'typing in ceramic', some very informative stuff out there. Ceramics are very hard materials which will out last waxes and are considerably thicker, not that you'd notice.

But from what I know the ceramic needs to adhere to the material, ie the engine casing or plastic and in order to do this needs to be very clean. So applying ACF 50 seems to fly in the face of the application.

I've done two of my bikes myself, if you read the thread 'ceramic coating detailing days', easy to do, just labour intensive to get the bike very clean. thanks Alistair

Is anyone still doing the full act 50 mist coat, masking off the tires, brakes etc?

Thinking of doing it myself but just thought I'd ask in case there is anyone good? Got the bike looking and working pretty good and I'd like to protect it. Considering just buying the big 5 L jug and misting it myself...

I'll be giving mine a blast with XCP using the compressor before they start spreading salt on the roads. The problem is you can't properly wash the bike without having to re-apply it. A quick rinse off is fine.

I buy the 1l bottle and if use and air-compressor and paint spray gun then ACF last lot longer and also gets better coverage.

I also have a cloth in a bag that I use to wipe off the excess. Re seal it in the bag and have a cloth pre soaked in ACF if need touch up or wipe anything else down.

I like to treat brake discs and spokes with Bilt Hamber 80 first. It does help stop corrosion and keep the shiny parts shiny. I then wrap brake discs and spray acf.

Any rust then I recommend the following for treating it, Fertan or Owatrol both are excellent and used them for years. Fertan requires bit more work but gives better result. Owatrol is great and easier use.

To de grease I use a heavy degreaser we have in work or "engine gunk". Stuff in work is in our parts cleaner, if mix it with diesel its ever better and washes off and leaves a perfectly clean surface. I do this to all bikes and re grease them. once have ACF on then road grime and gunk wipes off easy.

Lots To think about there John. Would owatrol or fertan (both new to me) be suitable for treating rusty bits like this?

Yes, they will neutralise the rust and you can then paint after.

I found Kurust to be pretty effective at removing rust.
