I've got a spare hall sensor here I'll have a search on checking them :thumb2

I only say that because when mine went, there was one occasion in the days leading up to final failure, the rev counter would jiggle, under accelleration.

IIRC, accelerating along the straight of the Cat and Fiddle, leaving the pub, I accelerated as normal, and for an instant, the rev counter dropped off then came back up to normal.

I think the next day, it failed completely as I approached a roundabout, decellerating.

But beware that the settings quoted are for an 1100, this thread:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53667&highlight=zero=zero

Suggests 0.310 volts instead of 0.380 for the 1150.

Steptoe is the man to ask, I know he's posted on TPS adjustment but I can't find the thread.

Advice - Don't do a zero zero. It's like filling your engine with oil through the drain plug. It can be done, but why :nenau I've seen examples where people get in a right state and end up chasing their tails. Definitely a case of trying to be too clever. And i've never, ever seen a bike that needed it doing.

You check the hall sensors at the plug under the tank. 5 leads ( on an 1150), one is the earth, and take a reading from the two that send the signal. I can't describe what terminals, i just do it on automatic when i check so don't really take note of things. I just get on with it. :blast

Well I don't have the experience to say not to do it after someone has suggested it. I'd read the stuff on Advrider and saw that zero=zero is a bit sus. I thought that Forry was likely to read the attached thread and see that for himself.

Pleased to have my suspicions confirmed.

What about TPS being knocked/damaged as a possible cause Neil?

There is a fix which may do the trick for this fellow
switch on ignition, turn throttle to full extent - hold- let it return. switch off- then restart the bike----- seen it done and it worked

Cheers for help Mike I'll keep that in mind :thumb2

Bog standard TPS reset. Pull fuse 5 first to clear the motronic memory.

Do you know what that does. Just shows/programme's the motronic unit what the throttle range is, from idle to full. nothing more nothing less. And it does it anyway by just you using the bike.

If the end plug is different your spare must be for an 1100.

There are two types for an 1150, both have the same end plug and both can be used on any 1150.
One has an inline "block" in the wiring cable, and the other is just wiring straight through. As i said you can use any of the two types on any 1150 .

Lets look at the clues.

Your bike assaulted Ronno's

Compared to Ronno, you are an off road guru, and can drop your bike on numerous occasions and DONT do any damage to it.

It started ok on Sunday at your tent, then you rode it up to where Ronno was, then left it for a while.

On returning it wouldnt start !!!

OK Ronnie ..... tell poor Forry wot u dun to break his bike.

And Ming. Im sure I seen the wee man with a pocketful of big staples on Saturday morning.

I rest my case mi-lud.

try showing the bike a mirror.

it possibly thinks it's a 1200, and won't start.
