whats that expression,
the light is on! but no one home.

You have a bike that is made for adventures, what are you going to do when you actually have one?

I find it hard to believe that some of the posters on here, believe it's acceptable for the battery on a nearly new bike to fully discharge in two weeks.

You do understand that BMW did not design and make the battery right? If it dead it could be many reasons for it.

I think one poster opined that - and you have made a generalisation based on that? :blast

A battery discharging in two weeks is "explainable", rather than acceptable, I would say.

There might be nothing wrong with the battery.
Was it fully charged when you parked it up?
How do you know?
Do you do lots of short journeys?
Do you park the bike outside?
Could it have gotten really cold?
Do you have any accessories fitted that could cause a parasitic drain?

Then again it might be a dud battery. It happens.
It's got fuck all to do with the cost of the bike.

wouldnt it be fekkin nice if someone just tried to help this guy instead of all the sarc......... anyway i have a bigger problem.....my BMW teddy wont fit anywhere on my gsa lc.....no room behind screen cos of sat nav, no room on rear cos of sat nag and teds not happy......heeeeeelp.....

It seems that asking advice is not the done thing. All it does is give every Tom, Dick, Harry and every other know-all twat on here, another opportunity to make sarcastic comments. Oh well, we live and learn.....

You've told us the sharp end of fcuk-all - to assist with a diagnosis.

Plenty people have asked you questions to clarify the problem - not seen much answers from you, apart from "I don't have a multimeter"

Your crystal ball in the shop getting fixed? ;)

BMW Assist came out this afternoon. Battery is flat. No appararent reason, as the bike hasn't got an alarm, has no sat nav etc. According to their technician, who knows nearly as much as some of the folk on here, he's known batteries to die a lot sooner than mine has.
Anyway, thanks for your help.

Charge the battery up and see what happens. If your just doing short trips, then the battery is not getting enough charge to replace what the bikes using.

If your doing long runs (Over half an hour) then the battery should be kept charged........... And if it's losing it's charge within 2 weeks, then ring the dealer, as there must be a drain on the battery somewhere.

From personal experience, don't leave anything plugged into the accessory socket, as it can lead the canbus system to think there is a bmw charger connected to it.

Good luck.

What the fuck has happened to the world? A bike has a flat battery... Who gives a shit why, it just has.... So the op can be forgiven for thinking it was terminal but he asks on here and gets advised its a flat battery... "Can't be its nearly new he whines" put it on charge he gets advised..... Personally I'd of jump started it to confirm its the battery, but no we have BMW assist out..... For fuck sake.... And I'm not sure from the ops comments whether he felt the technician was not up to scratch.... Perhaps he felt it was a waste of human resource..... Now as for should the battery of failed... Is it covered by the warranty? Was the bike brand new? Was it a private sale? If all the above is no then pop out and buy another of charge the one you have up....
As an after thought, the bike may well use a bit of oil... Be sure and post in here regarding that issue when it happens....

YOU'VE GOT A FLAT BATTERY AND WE ALL TOLD YOU THAT.

How could you not cope with changing it yourself ffs? Heaven forbid you actually use it to go somewhere and something happens when BMW assist are not around.

Seriously, learn some really basic maintenance skills.

Not sure what I've done to deserve the amount of criticism you've dished out.

Rest assured, I won't make the mistake of asking for advice again.

I'm closing the thread, because I don't need the sarcasm. Is this really what UKGSER is all about?
