Have tried that all ok there think i have a n electrical problem just don't know where to start did run just no lights now won't run and the fuel gauge is not working.

have a look at the wiring coming from the ignition switch, could be a broken one , give the wires a wiggle and see if anything springs into life.

no start.

Yes, check the wirinfg where it goes around the headstock this is where it fails, BM's used to sell a bit of wire with all connectors fo this as a spare for just this problem (did for 1100s anyway).
Good luck.

Its bound to be an 1100 with that sort of problem. fecking right dodgy piles-O-Shite. Dodgy electrics, wobbly forks, poor brakes, hand grenade gearboxs and weak head gaskets...you can see where the 1200 evolved from :hide

bike

1150GS with about 65,000miles on it

From what i remember on Micks earlier thread about this, the bike started and ran with no problems.
But did not have headlights, brake lights, indicators or dash lights. But did have neutral and oil lights.

Bike starts still no lights

Have found a fuse that looked good but was blown. now the bike starts bbut still don't have lights.

Have taken the fuse box out two new relays the little black one's checked the battery 12 volts ran new earth from battery to frame still no luck.

I have no lights at all RID works and bike will start thats its neutral light and battery and oil light work.

Any ideas?

Mick

It sounds as though its "just" the lights now not working.

Check the power feed to the lights actually at the place where the bulb sits, then test the earth. If the earth is "live" you have a bad earth somewhere.

This happened on my fogs and it turned out to be a poor earth by the head stock.

Also check the light swithgear on rhs grip. And the fuses for the lights:rolleyes:

Jon :)

not just lights

Its not just lights the horn does not work and the heated grips are not working.

all the fuses are ok have replaced then with new after last one looked ok but wa not

Mick

Sorted

Found a broken wire under the fuse board in the big bunddle off wire it was the main feed from the load relief relay to everthing.

Thanks for all your help
