BikeStart® mounting on 1150

Just bought myself a BikeStart and am having a look at where best to mount it.

I'm sure others must have already done this and was wondering where you've mounted yours.

Hi Fil,
spent ages trying to find a place to fix mine , on my Adv 1150 -finally gave up.
I keep the socket bit coiled up under the seat/tanl bit, next to the battery. All I have to do, if I need to use it is lift off the seat. Easy peasy. Call round any time for that coffee you like !!

Ive pondered the bike start in the past but then thought ... whats wrong with jump leads?

Roger if you'd asked your friends we could have made a few possibly painful suggestions on the positioning question!.
dave gs That plug looks abit flimsy to take a starter motor current, and those jump leads do look small for starting, you must lose a few amps with cable that size.

With a TT tank, it's a pain as you have to raise the tank to get to the battery terminals, or unscrew the starter motor housing and put the positive on the terminal and then find a good earth for the negative terminal.

It's all possible, and I've done both in the past - but it's just easier to plug the jump leads into a socket and off you go...

Might well take you up on the coffee Roger :thumb2 (Roger makes a good coffee - and this is important to me :D ) - under the seat is a good idea - lots of space around there and reasonably well protected.

It's only a bike that's being cranked over. Think about the difference in size between a car battery and a bike battery.... I wouldn't try to start a car from the bike but bike to bike or car to bike should be fine.

Anyhow - I don't want to justify my purchase to you all :rolleyes: I just want you to tell me where to stick it :augie :blast

If you rode it a bit more your battery wouldn't go flat...

Hi Dave,
Nippy's state-

* Splash and waterproof socket.
* For jumpstarting up to a max. 90 Ampere.
* 6mm2 battery connector cable.
*The length of the cable is about 60 cm
* Top quality German made with proper copper connections.

So, 90 Amps should be OK, and cable is fairly thick -enough for a bike do you reckon ? I hope so, -not had to use mine as yet - dooooh I didn't say that !!!! :blast
