Well the bikes went back to the dealership at Windsor, Santa Rosa yesterday. Kind of sad, I'm not ready for the trip to be over. What a trip it as been. Chris has done a sterling job, "thank you" somehow doesn't seem adequate.

Anyway this trip was originally called SanFranLaska, it was!

a>

First effort at holding a bridge camera (ha ha) and shooting whilst riding

Oh how did that happen?

a>

It was freezing, I thought Cali was always warm!

a>

Getting there, with Verns finest carrying everything I needed for the month and some things I didn't need.

a>

Success.

a>

Then we had to suffer the entire return trip. :bounce1

Chris had said that you just don't bored even on the big mile days. You do find the odd diversion, this one was on the Alcan...

Riding down through Idaho the scenery starts to change and we ride a little known road called the Rattlesnake. Yet another secret road I know and it's a hoot to ride. It runs through Rattlesnake Canyon just south of Lewiston and rivals the Dragons Tail for fun. It has 218 bends and of course a photo of the traffic girl in some road works has to be posted. One great thing about leading these rides is I get to talk to them and I have had a few life stories and very nearly a passenger:augie

The landscape through Oregon changes again and opens out into some flatish plains or they seem flat compared with the mountains we have been used to! Oregon is a beautiful state as it's very green and lush.

Of course the day wouldn't be complete with de riguer milk shake stop. I last came into this little place in La Grande 3 years ago and I'm glad it hasn't changed apart from the fact the 2 girls were training the day we got there and they really struggled when 10 brits strolled in:D These places are the best places to stop at and anyone who chooses to go to Mac shite for a burger and shake over these small cafe's frankly wants a bullet:augie Note the rules for work attendance:eek:

After a night in the small town of John Day which is the centre of the fossil beds in Oregon, we pulled in for breakfast at a small town which doesn't seem to have changed for years. Had a storming breakfast but the owner was having a bad day and given there was a Winchester above the door, it wasn't wise to ask her for a picture and we left a big tip:D

On our way to Crater Lake, we happened across another little milkshake stop:D Garfield seems to be appreciating this daily ritual:augie

There were 4 of us riding in a group and we saw a nice short cut and decided to take it to Fort Klammath. Turns out there was a little sand and a lot of gravel which made for an interesting a dusty 30 miles or so. Perfect GS hunting ground:thumb

Crater Lake. Words can't really describe the beauty of this place. It's what remains of a Volcano and the lake fills with snow melt and rain so is fresh water and 2000ft deep. It's just about unspoilt and it really is that stunning blue:thumb Lots of snow still about as it's over 7000ft.

After yet another brilliant day's ride, we get into our evening ritual of beer and bollox in typical tosser style:beer: We were joined by some Chinese ladies who were staying at the motel. The girls were studying at Seattle and their mother was over on a visit from China. She is very high up in the coal industry over there and didn't speak one word of English. We did our best to cement international relations and some of us went that extra mile;) The sum of the evening is we have an open invite to China if we are ever allowed to get the bikes in:thumb

And so to our final national park which is Lassen Volcanic Park in Northern California. Again, sensational scenery and little traffic to worry about.

So, 3 of teh guys decided to head off to Santa Rosa and didn't do Lassen but the rest of us met up with my cousin James in Burney who wanted to ride back to Santa Rosa with us:thumb We rolled into a little town called Chester and as it was the last night on the road we ended up in teh best Mexican in town which was superb.

Packer has lived a sheltered life :augie and this was his 1st taste of some superb food and i think he's now a fan. he also liked the Margharita's as well:beer:

James is a seasoned veteran of Mexican restaurants as he has lived out here for 12 years and reckons he can manage a Burrito in one:eek: Murdoch and Garfield are not so sure..........:D
