Why Oh why do we KEEP going back to Cannon's BMW ?

My father has done a deal for a new GS low suspension option, ALL the other extra's you can have and the GSA screen & winglets.
He has traded in his year old RT and having done the deal went off on holiday.
That left me to drop the bike off and make sure all was well so he could pick up his shiney new toy the day after he fly's home (Today - pick the bike up Sat)

The deal included moving his intercom, sat Nav and bike to bike radio on to the new bike.

Low and behold today Bill Cannon himself has informed Adam the salesman (Very helpfull and effecient btw) that Cannon's WILL NOT get involved in moving these items. One of the reasons sited was 'they don't know anything about Starcom systems ! This left Adam to remove them from the RT himself !

WTF
We pay TOP dollar for these motorcycles, more than a lot of people spend on a car. Why do we accept this level of service when we buy a bike ?
Fitting these things is child's play and if Cannon's can't manage it maybe they are simply not good enough for the rest of our business.

I for one would be cancelling the order and visiting another dealer.

SO, having riden the 2010 GSA whilst at the showroom last week AND getting a quote to change AND sorting the finances AND getting a go from the missus to buy it. I SHALL BE TALKING TO LIND'S ABOUT A P/X

RANT OVER

I share your frustration :comfort. Having said that I have just booked my 03 RT in for a 24K service. Spoke to Jack who I found helpful and efficient :thumb2. If Cannon's come on the site I hope they explain their rational for not doing this work which, as you say, seems straight forward enough.:nenau Always two sides to a story and I hope we get to hear theirs.

Good luck with the new bike :beerjug:

I can see where they might be coming from. If they fit these bits of unknown (to them) origin, and unknown (to them) serviceability and there's a problem, who sorts it out? Especially if there's damage caused to the new bike.

It seems fairly simple to me:

1. Cannon's don't want to get involved in fitting second hand parts to a new bike as they might end up with claims against them and an ongoing issue, seems reasonable :nenau

2. You think it's a pretty straightforward exercise, why not do it yourself then?

3. There are plenty of other BWM dealers, if this one is so poor go elsewhere :blast

Happy to help :toungincheek

They always used to be a stockist and accredited service location for Autocom...

So quite why Bill says they have no capability is strange...

Unless they lost that status when Autocom got taken over by Starcom's parent company and this is another "emotive reaction" from Mr Cannon...

I had several experiences as has been described. That's why SBW get all my business these days...

The point of my frustration has been the level of service and the attitude towards a customer that is spending a considrible amount of money.
Actually fitting these things aren't a problem, and if anything I'd rather do it myself so that I know all the cables aren't going to chaff, mainly because ANY workshop would only allow a certain amount of time to such a job (not as much time as I would spend on it myself)

NO, the real problem here is the principle.
If they say they can and will do it, then do it !
Don't leave it until the day before collection to tell you.

bmw

why do you go there they have proved they are a crap dealer, just stay away and dont have the problem. stop spending money with them and then they might get the message.:rob:rob:rob I bet you give them a second chance!!!!!for f--k sake wake up.

A CALL FROM BILL CANNON

I had a call from the man himself this afternoon, he got wind of my post and called to get it from the horses mouth.
Over the next 10 mins or so Bill did indeed admit that the service levels at Cannon's had not been the best, and whilst we didn't agree totally, he went a long way to reassuring me as to the efforts being made at the dealership to improve the situation.
I would also say that the 'facts' that I had been given weren't 100% correct and as many will say there's always 2 sides to every story.

Now, I'm not going to be voting Cannon's for dealer of the year just yet, but I was wrong to knock these guys in the way I have, and I'll hold my hands to that.

Martin

p.s. No, I'm not writing this having been given a free bike by way of an apology :augie

Hmm. A bit of a turn around. So what were the different facts and why wasn't the work done that you had expected to be done? (or is that part of the confidentiality clause you agreed as part of your settlement? :augie )

I new it you are going back for more, just give them your pin number and walk away it will be less stress. they will get you in the end.:blast:blast:blast:blast:blast:blast

both fair comments / observations, but, as per original post :

The deal included moving his intercom, sat Nav and bike to bike radio on to the new bike.

If they didn't want or intend to do it, they should have said so at the outset. Half the reason peeps get p'd off with bike (and car) workshops is just poor communication imho. How many times do we have a case, for example, where they say "we'll phone you either way" and then just don't bother. Happened to my missus yesterday having her MOT done.:(

+12 volts and earth.

How hard can it be ????

Glad I live between Bahnstormer, CW and Vines.:D
