As it happens, the first time I chickened out and went round. Further up the road though i came across this guy.

So I stopped to help out. Turns out he'd got stuck two days ago, had no tools to speak of, except a couple of spades, that bent on first use. He didn't have the control unit or any form of anchor for the spiffing winch on the front of the Shogun. Oh and his jack sank when he tried to use it, as he had no base. Anyway after a bit i went back through the puddles to get a couple of recovery company numbers from the Safari Garage. Then back up to let him use my phone to ring them, as his went flat the first time he used it. I left him with help on the way and set off for home. Mind you i suppose he might still be there :nenau

Not many people on the site would know that :augie

Yes, went on me own. I didn't stray too far from home though, and I have a house full of teenagers who'd be more than happy to come out and laugh at me before dragging me out.:aidan

not a lot of people know how hard a 270 kilo bike is to ride off road, good for you

I must confess that this time of year I'd rather ride my TTR6, but there you go :D

Some more good weather yesterday, so out again for a quick bimble.

A nice short ride up through the trees from Bank Foot to Ingelby Bank. The bank doesn't start off too bad, but half way up, around the corner the gravel turns to monolith size chunks of sandstone. Still, had a go, but did manage to lay it down the once.

Once past the stones it was onto the steps. Managed to get up them and onto Rutland Rigg in one piece.Think the next time i may well go the other way as it's probably easier falling downhill, than up. Then it was an easy ride to Gilamoor

Two from Rutland Rigg

After Rutland Rigg it was a run down some quiet roads to Rosedale and then onto Pickering, before returning along the Moors road, in the freezing fog that had appeared

Yesterdays ride had a few lessons. Firstly the daysack i put my tools and spare shit in, doesn't want to stay put, no matter what i try :blast. So a pelican case or similar may be in order. Secondly that when you stop on a slight incline to sort out said daysack, turn off the engine and leave it in gear. Otherwise it'll roll of the stand :blast:blast Thirdly when you pick the bike up the Handlebars can spin in their mounts, and you can guarantee that the Torx socket you need will not be with your tools :blast:blast:blast

Next time i think i'll have a potter down to the forests around Pickering and Scarborough

Last Week

It was a bit chilly, to say the least.

This was taken in the car park of the Saltersgate Inn

great pics:thumb2 and these roads only a stones throw away from me, I wish I had known about them sooner.

Are we going to loose access to these, come 1st April:confused::(

Hope to see you in Pickering on good friday and maybe you can give us some directions:thumb

None of the routes in this thread are under threat as far as I know, the ones closing come April 1st are in the Yorkshire Dales and they are much less tolerant of trail riding than the much more liberal, at the moment, North York Moors national park authority.
