Does anyone have experience of using Bing 40 carbs with a siebenrock 1000cc kitted motor (R80GS) instead of the standard 32’s? Interested in how it performed if you’ve tried it?

Been told that the 32mm carbs work just as well , but it worth having the "squish" band machined out to suit the bigger diameter barrels

Mikey machined the heads so the squish matched the bigger cylinders when he built the motor. I’m running 32’s at present and it runs well, although the idle setting has to be spot on or the revs hang when you shut the throttle once the bike’s good and hot

No I stuck with the 32s which have been fine. Have you looked at BMW2V.com? I’ve bought stuff from him before and it’s always been very good and properly refurbished. Here’s a link
