If I'm allowed on here. It is an airhead and it is sort of connected to BMW, ( I think they still own the name, ) BUT......... its chain drive.
Anyway its very light so ideal for me in my present condition.

Its Flips Zundapp Combinette, 50cc moped.
Its been hanging around in the garage for the last thirty years or so , so about time it was put back together.:blast

Quite a nice little story though, We were at a steam rally when he was about 7 or 8 and in the morning they used to have an auction of all sorts of rusty metal bits. Phill saw this moped and asked if he could bid on it. I said yes he could bid a couple of quid. Auctioneer nearly threw a hizzy but all the crowd shouted out that he should let the lad have it and no one else bid... he got it for £2. We got it running although part of the carb was missing and took it to a couple of shows before it went into the back of the garage. never had the heart to get rid. I dug it out today and will see if I can put it all together. bit difficult as I am having a few problems with the Cancer but at least this is lovely and light.
So here are the bits, .... Am I allowed to continue, not being a shafty etc.:augie

It's old, aircooled, interesting and lightly linked to bmw.. cant see any reason why not :nenau

Good thing it's not a KKS500.. otherwise I'd have to get a drool protector for my laptop! :drool

Its a rebuild - so of great interest to us :bounce1.

(It could be a steam loco, a Thames Barge or an old aircraft - the interest is the same :clap).

Well done pops

I'd forgot what the old thing looked like. What with you doing the zundapp and me trying to sort Bertha anyone would think flips got his hands full with a new baby or something:D

When I first got this up and running some 30 years ago, I could not find out what colour the paint should be but as the original, unfaded paint could still be seen in the airbox, I got as close a match as I could, I think its a ford colour, anyway.... 30 years and five house moves later, guess what I found in the garage... Yup the paint tin with about half a litre left in it, not dried up at all, cellulose as well. Its amazing what we keep isnt it.
Dilema, do I use this paint, though I may have to acquire spray equipment or do I use aerosols. The beauty with them is that I can spray the parts bit by bit rather than pepping all the bits and doing the lot. ( saves on gun cleaning which I think is always a bind)

Its amazing what we keep isnt it?

I have an original tin of 1950s 'Ariel red' paint.

I bought it at a VMCC Autojumble back in the 1960s :blast

Both my Ariels were black so I have never opened it.

I also have a pair of chromed springs for a sprung saddle, acquired at around the same time.

I have never owned a bike with a sprung single saddle.

Also, one brand new valve guide for a Mk1 alloy Ariel Square four motor (two-pipe model).

I have no idea where the other seven went.

:D :D :D

Tony, Great to see you're reserecting the old thing 'though for some reason I thought it was in Flips garage':nenau

Re; the paint job. Get it all prepped and ready, buy a cheap'ish spray gun off ebay and when you've finnished, not only will the colour be the same all over but you can fling the spary gun in the bin, which saves having the hassel of washing it out :thumb2

BTW: You been taking a leaf out of that Syco son of yours book? I'm sure those forks are on backwards. :rob:D:D

It's an official turnertech modification. It allows other riders to keep up with us:D

Val, well spotted but I wondered whether I would be able to ride it backwards this way:D

Actualy I only stuck it on to be aqble to stand the frame upright:rob
