Hi all
Last year I did my first Cambrian and met loads of nice people , Timpo, Forry, Timolgra, Snoops, Possu and loads of othres through this site ad over the weekend. There was a huge build up on this site beforehand and lots of banter after.
I'm entering the Hafren on 5th Oct and the Cambrian on 18/19 but it all seems a bit quiet this year in the build up.
Is it the credit crunch or is everybody keeping their powder dry. The Rally last year was just brilliant and I hope it will be as good this year
Hopefully see some folks there I shall be on an xr650r I've just bought for the rallies
cheers

I've now entered both, really looking forwards to them. There must be others as well!

I would like to do the Hafren again but I have logistics to sort out first... it will be a late entry for me if it happens.

I'm in on the Cambrian and looking forwrad to it

Not much off-roading done on here. Check out the European section on Adv Rider for relevant threads.

Just got back from the Hafren! What a cracking event, the course, despite torrential overnight rain, was absolutely fantastic.

For a big traily (Husky 500) it was perfect, lots of open sections, and the technical bits were eaten up by the bike.

No Big BM's there (coz you is all wimps!) but a couple of people on 950/990 who seemed to be really enjoying the course.

Also met Richeryroo, nearly did the typical overtake, then fall off scenario as my back wheel tried to overtake the front, but luckily held it all together. Nice to meet you Rich, see you again in two weeks!

Bit harder/faster/more competitive than the Cambrian, but a really good event.

Me too

Waking up a bit stiff this morning (fnarr fnarr) after a brilliant brilliant Sunday. Got up at 5am to drive to the the Sweet Lamb Complex for the start of the Hafren and I genuinely thought the event would be called off because the overnight rain was absolutely torrential and a lot of roads in Wales were flooded.

By 9am it was warm, magical blue skys and the course was sensational. Loads of fast gravel roads, woodland which was nice and swooping and riding up steep rocky climbs against a torrential waterfall.

Nice to meet Foolonastrom - bit embarassing really as every special was started in strict number order and I was 220 and he was 221 - the old xr650r could hold its own on the gravel where all that required was a bit of loonacy but come the technical bits where a touch of skill was needed and I could soon hear the Husaberg booming away right behind me :blast

Most of my posts on this forum seem to say the same thing - these rallies are fantastic fun. The Hafren was definately the fastest and most competitive of the ones I've done but it wasn't intimidatingin any way. The specials seemed to come thick and fast and there wasn't quite the time for trundling around that you get on the Cambrian.

But the course was a fantastic, safe, fast sweep round magical Welsh scenery and I think you can't beat that :thumb
