Hi folks

I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been covered in another thread.

I've just picked up my 1150GS and am in the process of 'bonding' right now. I wanted to know where the best place to source parts is.

I have a couple of Hondas in the shed and get most of my bits from David Silver, is there a similar on line parts shop for BMW that the forum recommends?

Cheers

PS - oh yeah,, what about oil....:D

Moto-Bins and Motor Works, I use James Sherlock and have always been happy with their help and professionalism. The latter two are listed at the top of this page.

Oil, most people use 20-50 either Dyno or part synthetic. Valvoline and Rock oil worth looking at. Just make sure the one you get meets the spec listed by BMW as a lot of cheap 20 50 is made for old classic cars and bikes and does not meet the spec required, Halfords is a prime example.

As usual this topic of what oil to use brings out the nerds who "wouldn't touch that with a barge pole" or "best thing since slice bread" brigade.

I use all three - Motorworks. Motobins and Sherlocks. and always phone to order - to be sure they have exactly what I need. phone before midday and 99/100 the goods will arrive next day. If.. (rarely) the first I call doesn't have everything - then I just call the next.

Just as an example - last year i needed new bearings - these were 'on order' awaiting delivery at two of the dealers - the third had them in stock ready to go.

The ones listed do used parts as well which can help keep costs down.
