Black forest weather

In my limited experience, (3 passing through trips in July / August) it's always rainy and cloudy in the Black Forest, especially in the late afternoon and evening. And it always rains in the Vosges, regardless of time of year or day. Doesn't stop me going back there year after year as I suspect it'll be stunning when I finally get a dry trip there.

I was in the Vosges last July. The roads were very slippery at times. Not from rain but it was so hot that the over-banding used to seal cracks was molten. Proper shits you up it does when the front slides half way through a hair-pin. Apart from that it was great as most roads were empty of trafffic, apart from a few cyclists on the Ballon d'Alsace

I've had nothing but good weather in the Vosges in summer, been there or through there four or five times. Even in early May when there was loads of snow still on the tops, it was sunny and not too bad during the day.

Only been to Black Forest twice, but the first time was 30 degrees in July, the second time (the early May trip) warm and sunny during the day, bloody freezing camping at night.

I may just have been lucky, of course.

We went last year ..........late April

Sunny and warm - up to 27c in the Vosges/Black Forest every day

Snow at the roadsides though

Went to the Mosel, Aug Bank Hols and it was freezing and rained torrentially every single day

I would be highly unlikely to get to 40 ... it has happened but not often

It's like saying sussex with be between 20 and 37 each year ....

Was there a week from June 12 2010 and it was wet wet wet with some sunny spells. Was back again in September passing through each way to/from Italy over two weeks and it was Scorchio
In my expieriance their weather is usually a few degrees warmer and usually seems to have less rain but you've got to just make the best of it and not get too hung up on bloody weather forecasts.
As previously mentioned... Be very careful with the over banding on sunny days as it sure snaps the front from under you (stop at the next wc please!).

One thing for sure is you'll love it and be back for another fix.

Almost true, the Vosges is one of the wettest places in France. The pains of Alsace, on the other hand, a mere few kilometers away is one of the driest.
