hitlers holiday home he got for his 50th birthday, the tunnel runs into the mountain then you get a lift up inside to the gaff.

hitlers holiday home he got for his 50th birthday, the tunnel runs into the mountain then you get a lift up inside to the gaff.

There is an amazing echo in the tunnel!!! And if one had a mind to, one could wait til the lift descended, wait for the 'bing' of the doors opening, and blow a big raspberry down the tunnel:pullface

Love the pic of Jo on the bike with Ken on the back!!!

Day 11 - We left Berchtesgaden in a sort of drizzly haze but it started to clear up as we headed back towards the Black Forest.

We decided to go through Fussen on the way because I wanted to see King Ludwig's Fantasy castle. It is alleged that Walt Disney based the Disney Castle ie Sleeping Beauty's Castle on this castle in South Germany.

It was absolutely mobbed with people so we didn't get close, loads and loads of children:eek

This day was the only one that we had no accomodation booked. We stopped in Wertach and found a nice guesthouse.
Then we headed out for some grub.
We had bought a gorrillapod tripod for the camera, we were trying to get a photo of the 4 of us but either we (Kev) missed one or the waiter would come in and stand between us and the camera - oblivious !

By the time this shot was taken we were weak with laughter:roll

This was on the way back from the restaurant:)

We had a lovely breakfast and headed off towards Gastehaus Grunenberg in the Black Forest. Highly recommended on Ukgser, and again, deservedly so:clap

We stopped off at Lake Bodensee. What an absolutely stunning place!

The water was so clear! 4 countries border this lake so as you looked around you were looking at different countries:)

We arrived in the Grunenberg mid afternoon, what a beautiful village. Every place we stayed in was nicer than the one before:clap This place is at the bottom of a valley and the scenery on the way down was outstanding. I can only imagine how pretty it is in the snow:bounce1

There is so much to do in the locality that we could've spent a week there.
Ken and Jo decided they'd chill out for the afternoon, Kev and I went to the longest toboggan run in Germany:roll It's 2.9km long and sooooo much fun:bounce1

<a href="http://s964.photobucket.com/albums/ae130/midemaher/Germany%202011/?action=view&current=1144.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae130/midemaher/Germany%202011/1144.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

We had to queue for an hour once we got up there:( but definitely worth it:JB

There was a scooter run there too but we had no time to go there - 8km of a green lane type scooter run, not motorised scooters, ones like kids have only with 18 inch wheels:bounce1

I think we'll have to go back and do that someday!!

We left the Grunenberg the following morning and headed for France!

We were coming to the end of our holiday:(

We stayed in Two Wheel Moorings in France, another fantastic Ukgser recommendation:bow

It was the only place we stayed in that had a proper double bed and not 2 singles pushed together:clap

We felt at home immediately as we helped Carol bring in the washing:D

<a href="http://s964.photobucket.com/albums/ae130/midemaher/Germany%202011/?action=view&current=Germany2011300.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae130/midemaher/Germany%202011/Germany2011300.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

We left the following morning, straight to Calais.
We stayed in Thurrock again, had our last dinner of the holiday in the Village Indiya again:thumb

What a brilliant holiday! Can't wait til next year:aidan

Great stuff i enjoyed that, looks like it was a fun holiday, glad to see Kev has curtailed his drinking habits ...Joe i can almost hear you laughing from here :D
