I'm looking for a pair of boots to wear in summer months but which could still put up with a bit of rain. Up till this purchase the boots I've had were for year round biking-hail, sleet or snow. Being a bit of a cheapskate I've just worn plain boring Derriboots, great waterproofing and nothing pretentious about them, maybe not the safest but did the job for me.I figure that if I'm going to be having an off where the difference in boot makes much difference then my feet are probably goiung to be the last thing on my mind. I'd also like to be able to walk about towns or villages in them without cooking my feet or looking a bit OTT. They will not be used for any serious type off roading, maybe the odd boreen or a beach or two.

Perhaps all of this is a bit longwinded so in short I need- ankle length, waterproof, breathable, comfortable and if possible looking like a regular boot but with the extra bits for gearchange lever point etc. Oh and I need size 12 or 13. Any reccomendations???

If you're feeling flush get Fre Daytona Roadstars (£200) or if on a tighter budget get HiTec Magnums Waterproof (£approx £50).

Do a search on t'internet & eBay and you'll see.

I have had Daytonas for years and never got wet feet. Best boots ever.
The Magnums are worn by the military and the police, can't be bad.

Had mine for over 5 years now, I use them daily for a 110 mile roundtrip commute throughout the year. Never leaked, still looking good. Comfortable for all day wear, and passable in the street away from the bike.

Altberg Hoggs.

Not that cheap, but I have two pairs, that (between them) have done 90k + everyday use for 5 years, and showing no signs of needing replacememt - although they could do with their annual polish at the current time ;)

Maybe, maybe not worth a mention but beside your head the other part of your body that have the most serious injury is your feet, if your not a believer just take note of how many bikers 'limp'

It really is worth getting the best protection you can afford for your feet :thumb

You can always keep a pair of shoes in your top box if you intend doing a 'walk about'

the army/police etc all use these.ive had mine 5 years ,pricy but ow so good.:bow

Yes, they're ok and they're certainly good enough for what he wants them for. I've had a pair of Clubman Classics for the past 7 years. However, they don't offer current days levels of armoured protection and mine are now baggy and saggy enough to offer little protection against inversion or eversion injuries to the ankle. Hence the Sidi Flexforce SRS sitting next to them.

Ive got some Bullson Vince dry boots from Hein Gericke £39.99.
Waterproof, protective for ankle length and very comfy. :D
Have a look.

some good boots recommended there. I think I'll be looking a bit closer at the Bulson Vince. Thanks for all the above advice:thumb :thumb

I think my learned friend meant days' levels , that is to say the levels customarily found in the times we live in?

Or "current day levels" or something like that. I'm a bit unwell at the moment and I'm not being as precise as usual. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
