Wanted Porsche Boxster wanted

I looked into buying a Boxter a few years ago. I was advised to join the owners club, which I did, in order to learn more about the car. In the for sale section the cars available had this done, that done and brakes etc. It looked like a an expensive car to run. When I asked my friend who was a 911 owner, are they all so needy? Do the bills stop when I buy it? He said if you don't like the sound of a Boxter but want something along those lines check out the Nissan 350Z, which I did, and bought a Roadster soft top. Had lots of reliable, fast fun with it. Expensive on road tax, fuel (25 - 30 mpg) and oil use. Nice car though.

Hello guys

I’ve decided to embark on a little Euro tour/drive, having come to the conclusion it would be best in a Boxster so I can have the roof down. Don’t have the budget for a 911 and the Boxster will be more than adequate for my trip

After carrying out a bit of research it appears the 2.9 987 (gen 2) is the model to go for from 2009-2012.
The various online sites are full of all manner of cars with varying service history and condition, but none have grabbed my attention.

Anyone have one for sale or wanting to share advice/recommendations greatly appreciated.

Maximum budget is £11k, I will probably sell it on my return (well hope to without too much of a loss)

Thanks in advance
At that budget, you’d be better joining your local TIPEC group and getting some serious advice and experience from real owners, not internet commentators. 👍

I had an early 2.7 Porsche 986 manual
Loved it
Under current road fund licence I think the 987 post 2007 models will be in the nr £800 pa tax bracket
I'm sure somebody else will be along to update that

2009 Porsche Boxster 2.9cc. 987 Ins.group 43e 221gm/km = £445 per annum, half that if only keeping it 6 months.
£760 per annum if a 2008 2.7cc 987 242gm/km....go figure.

Tidy looking car. :thumb2
Well under budget too.

I would definitely consider an MX5

I've just returned from an 1800 mile euro trip and the 5 was absolutely amazing.

Kept up with all the Porsches through the Black Forest and just superb fun.

I previously owned a 981 Boxster GTS, which was brilliant, but for sheer fun the MX5 wins.

I like the MX5. But I also liked this left field version based on the MX5. You don’t see so many on the road and to my eye they are very stylish. The Fiat 124 Spider.

I got back just yesterday from a 2500 mile trip with my daughter, in my 2.9 Cayman. I did a similar trip last year with my son. Ask away.
