I'll just check with the wife......................................er.............................................NO:blast

i'm available for this & will drop the bike back to Limerick for the bus fare from there back to Tralee.

The bloke phoned me from Mali today & I have booked the flights out for Wed Aug 24th.
The bloke flies home on Fri Aug 26th - I plan to take a bit of a tour of Mali & meander back to Ireland arriving home no later than the end of Oct.
I guess those guide books must now be read for real.
The blokes bike is a BMW 650 CS (a Scarver) - a city bike buy hey it got him out there. :bow
Must get my injections. :bounce1

bring back my..

Best of Luck and Bon Voyage
Have a read @ f650.com - the write-ups for a few CS fixing tips.

The belt and the excenter could be a problem if not OK, nothing else fits.
Worthwhile to know how to tighten the belt without beemers special contraptions.
The large 55mmm alu castle nut is a headache if tightened too much, the onbord plastic yoke won't shift it.
The lights get wobbly, a few metal bits and a large dollop of glue might hold rattly bits in place.
Some terminal/cables fry as well.

Safe return

Good idea to bring a spare belt:thumb2

I would also suggest that you bring motion sickness tablets:nenau because of the difference in atmospheric pressure:eek

Apparently this has a massive effect on tyre pressure, the air is on thin that it wants to stay at the top of the tyre, this will have a sea-saw effect when riding the bike, but listen dont worry if you forget the motion sickness tabs:blast,

you can always be sick into this:D

Gotta love BMW they think of everything.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Gerry,

mind yourself - i personally would have doubts about travel through Mali.

Envy!

Lot of envious people wishing you well. :beerjug: What an opportunity!

So Gerry that's a firm booking for a full report at next year's Horizon meet?:hide

borders.

curious to know what your doing about the paper work.
long story, but, a on our trip to mali one of the guys got sick, a friend flew out to ride his bike home. every border crossing was a complete nightmare.
mauritania/marocco 15hrs+money. good luck though.
its a fantastic place to ride. yes there can be dodgy people but ive been more scared in england than in africa.
