Spent bloody ages now trying to bleed my front disk brake.

Any tips ~ bought a secondhand set up for my trail bike.

Gremeca Master cylinder and caliper, every thing looks like new, but the shop drained the fluid before shipping it to me.

Tried the squeeze open shut let go thing three time now getting bored.

Do you need a vacuum thingy?

A couple of tricks i have found useful:

To get the fluid started a syringe to suck from the bleed nipple. Or pump some into the system via the bleed nipple

To get rid of air completely, leave the front brake on over night (with a bungee round the brake lever). The do the squeeze, open shut thang the next day.

When leaving the brake tied up over night don't forget to take the lid off the reservoir it usually does the trick

Oooooh - Blake Bleeding ? Tricky - a million ways to do it, everyone knows a good way.

Unscrew the bleed nipple at least 3 turns. This'll let the air out.

Fill the M/c up - now, using a decent pair of pliers( or proper hose clamp if you 've got one ) , clamp the hose about an inch from the m/c cylinder with one hand, and pump the m/c with the other hand.

You'll find pressure build up, release the pliers grip slowly letting the fluid past.
Keep going till the fluid leaks out the bleed nipple on the caliper.

Stop and bleed as normal.

Never fails.

( not recommended on braided lines unless its an emergency or no-ones looking )

that sounds like a handy tip to try on those difficult bleeding jobs.
i'll have to remember that one :)

Never heard this one before, but will give it a try if I have any problems. :)

If you don't have a vacuum bleeder but do have suitable length of hose* and a take off point for inlet vaccum (e.g. carb balancing fitting) you can connect it to the bleed nipple, run the engine and pull the fluid through. Just remember to top up the master cylinder as you go, and to tell the landlady what you've done with her wine syphon kit (or not, for that mid-eighties Bulgarian chardonnay piquancy...). Worked a treat to get Bill the dispatcher's unstoppable CB400N off our driveway in time for his next shift.

*Ideally long and transparent, so you can close the nipple before sucking brake fluid into the engine.

Sorted thanks guys

Rubber band all night and then...............

"I had a problem like that with my K100, try turning the bars to the left and tap the flexy pipe with a spanner, it may help to shake the bubbles in the fluid to the top, if not...........shoot it!"
