why is it these things get under your skin ,having just sold the rt ,to a good mate ,the last thing i need at the moment is another bike (its financial) ,so why am i allready looking at airhead gsers .
like most ive had quite a few ,allways go back to them ,having had last year a 1100rt ,1150 adv ,1200 adv ,800gs , all mint ,all perfect ,i still crave after an old gs aircooled .
i think i have to realise once your hooked your hooked ,theres nothing you can do ,you have to submit to it .
go withit ,it wont be this year ,because im skint at the moment ,but i will be back next year ,and it will be an aircooled gs .:D

I bet you will not wait until next year!

I thought you had only just bought the RT Dave. I know you like to chop and change but is this a record?

ive had the rt ,for a month now ,time to move on ,now who do i know whos got a pd /gs for sale .

It's like being on drugs, when you have one they really screw you up but when you don't have one in your life, you lie awake with cravings...

Thanks largely to following your RS or RT discussion, my own dormant cravings were re-awakened and I opted for......... a GS P-D :D:D:D:D:D

Things just don't improve...:blast

thats true, so why do we keep going back ,we know technically there not that good,as an off roader ,which there flagged up as ,there not that good.
is it that thing called character,
and do we ,on this site ,with our love of the bike keep prices artiffically high.
all i know is we love them ,they get under your skin .
for me its the simplicaty of the design ,and the fact ,that even a monkey like me can fix most things on there.and you can still get nearly every single part ,as a whole or seperate item .at a good price .
all i know is i want another one .
and this time it will be a keeper :augie

I know exactly what you mean.:)

The dumbest thing I've done in recent years was sell my GSPD Classic to Devon. At least I've now got Bertha to enjoy instead (plus four other airheads:D ).

Just need some decent weather to ride the things.

at the time ,i looked at bertha ,and allthough it was all done ,i was looking for an origonal gs ,otherwise ,i would have been interested .
however now ,with funds a bit limited ,ill have to realise i wont get an origonal g/s for the money i can afford .
looking forward to the airhead weekend ,allthough ill come on the harley ,it is aircooled

sell the harley and get a mint gspd and a triumph twin/sportster chopper project:aidan

problem solved:thumb

(allthough an rt is really a better bike )

Are you sure about that? Maybe there's a reason the GS fetches at least twice as much as an RT. But you won't know that till you scratch the itch? :eyebrow

Seriously

I've got a couple of Airhead GS's in the garage, one with Moorespeed tweaked heads that goes very well and my bike of choice most times is a 200k Miles heavy flywheel 100/7. Don't get hung up on the GS thing, they really aren't worth the money they're fetching now. It's starting to be a Piss take.

The mono G/s is just a slower version of the RT you've just sold but doesn't handle as well and hasn't got any wind protection. Would you really want to spend loads of dosh for that?

Sell the Harley and buy an 800you know you want to, the little men in your tell you that you should.

A lot of sense being spoken now! I had a couple of oil-head GS's a few years ago and very nice they were too. Rode them all year round etc etc. However I eventually came to the conclusion that most people who ride GS's NEED them like most Range Rover owners NEED a Range Rover. In terms of doing tens of thousands of miles per year on roads my K1200S is faster, more comfortable and uses about the same amount of fuel. I think it's called progress.

HOWEVER that hasn't stopped me spending an inordinate amount of time and energy working on my R80ST. Airheads are just bloody good fun apart from anything else.
