Got this yesterday for a reasonably good price. Had to go to Devon to get it though. On the very wet (Actually it pissed it down so heavily I was drenched within 20 minutes !!!) return journey I discovered that when you brake above 80 , the front wheel shakes and transmits that shake to the handlebars, oh and the next day when I got it out to clean it I discovered that the left heated grip had stopped working, which is odd as it worked all the way home. phoned the guy I bought it from, and to his ultimate credit, he said yeah sounds like discs are warped I'll see if i can get you some, 5 minutes later job all done and dusted and the new discs will be with me on Friday.

So... can warped dsics produce the symptoms I described, and :
If I was fault diagnosing a left hand faulty heated grip where would I start. The right hand one is extremely warm and I had to turn it down as it was just TOO hot.

Oh and some pics of the bike, just in case anyone doesnt know what they look like (Hey come on this is the 1200 section, err hmm yeah)
Apparently the new discs have to be torqued down as well, which is gonna be fun as I dont have a torque wrench, or any way of stopping the bike falling on me after Its on its main stand but minus its front wheel. Anyone know what they are torqued down to, Ft/Lbs wise??

Anyone got an idiots guide on either (i'll need pictures...;);):thumb:augie)

Congrats Mark, you've finally got a proper bike again:D:beerjug:

Close but no cigar!!!

Its actually an aircraft hangar, as I work for the MOD (what some less well informed people term Modplod) i took the picture away from all the other bikes as a certain individual only wanted to know about the other bikes and not the one i advertised. Still need help with the heated grips and wheel/discs issue though if anyone can....

AWWW GO ON GO ON GO ON GO ON GO ON........(in fake Father Ted Oirish accent)

What a daft place to put the tax disc. I assume you'll be moving it??? :augie:augie

NO I will bloody well not be moving it........If I had my way I would remove it completely and keep it somewhere less nickable. Mind you it IS a photocopy, but quite a good one, so still have the original in the service book.

Nice to see another Classic 1200GS in the best colour.

Thank you Mr K. I am of the opinion that it might have been played with in a good way. In first gear, if you're not quite careful with the throttle i find the front wheel starting to come up.

Might just be weight transfer as Im such a fat bastard.

It looks as if it's fitted with a set of aftermarket headers....

Isn't there a minimum standard of health and fitness demanded of those who Police our military installations these days? :augie

yes there is a minimum standard and im pleased to say I reach that standard (just)
Cmon people help me with the original reason I posted this, namely the front discs and the heated grips issue. I'm getting disillusioned now and may be forced to sell it:augie:augie:augie:comfort

C'mon Mark - time you were becoming a bit more self-reliant -http://bit.ly/MVcy6b

If you're going to sell it, I'll give you a very fair £1500 for it.....:thumb2
