I love the RT's. Low comfortable seat with great weather protection.
I don't like the way they corrode under the fairing panels. First thing i'd do is to cover everything under the panels in acf 50.
And the handling is a bit different.. The front end feels like a GS with under inflated tyres.

Tie a short length of fishing line or wire trace used for pike fishing from the mirror to the fairing, tucked away in the mirror mount you can't even see it and if the mirrors get knocked of you don't lose them .

i find van mirrors are the perfect height for my GS to destroy if the twats close up gaps when filtering
My 1150
Had this one for a year or so. Sold it when cash got tight in 2009, but was a great bike. Did a weekend trip to Scotlandshire, 1500 miles in crap weather, felt absolutely fine after the runs there and back.
Echo Steptoe's comment - bike looked great on the outside but paint was peeling on the engine underneath the fairing panels.

What lies BeneathThis was my first look at the bike less fairing, telelever seems prone to losing its paint in sheets, I sorted all the paint under the fairing, used etch primer on telelever, looked good but you cant tell once the plastics all back on, I think the paintwork is now a bit more durable, ACF-50 helps

Hmmm, shame about the soundtrack
bought a 1200 gs in may 2010 as I needed it for a London commute, touring and fun on gravel./sandy road. I vowed that if i do not go to sands of Morocco or do a massive tour( read Ewan and Charlie / off on a massive to Russia trip thingy), I'd buyt a 1200 RT next time around. So far I have done the Spain thing, little off roading at Wales off road school - and i love me bike! but the Mrs keeps saying how much she loves the 1200RT. So bottom line if i don't do a long mans tour, in 18 months i will buy a R1200rt. Only concern is that I also have a london commute. And the RT is jusrt that little harder to commmute on...
so hate van drivers! it is like a a massive warning system to me every time I see a van in front of me. I slow right down....
